Israel to United Nations: No Visas for You

Israel is rejecting U.N. entry visa requests and U.N. visa extensions. Why should people who hate Israel be allowed into the country?

Israel began rejecting entry visa requests before October 7, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Spokesperson Lior Haiat said that one employee of the U.N. Women agency who works in Israel will have to leave the country because Israel has rejected his visa extension.

“Because of the way that the UN has reacted to the October 7th massacre and since, starting from the Secretary-General to some of the agencies, including UN Women and others that kept silent to the suffering of Israelis — and especially the rape and the sexual abuse of Israeli women — we will not automatically issue visas to the employees of the UN, and will work on a case-by-case basis,” Haiat said.

The ministry also rejected an entry visa application by a second worker, he noted.

“This week we have decided not to extend the visa of one of the employees of the UN Women that works in Israel and not to issue a visa of another employee that wanted to visit Israel,” Haiat said.

U.N. Women was hideously silent for weeks after the October 7 massacres by Hamas in Israel. The organization was silent for so long that women on the left began to call it out. Hatred for Israel is often apparent in the workings of the United Nations. The time since October 7 has been no different. The U.N. Women have not supported Israel by remaining silent and turning away from the horrible reality. The organization certainly was not supporting Israeli women, especially those kidnapped, raped, and taken to Gaza as hostages. Where was the outrage for the use of rape as a weapon of war? The U.N. Women turned a blind eye with their silence.

The remarks made by the U.N. Secretary-General angered Israeli officials as his support of Hamas over Israel was apparent.

Israel’s Ambassador to the United Nations said in October that Israel would no longer issue visas to UN officials. The decision to withhold visa approvals was discussed shortly after it became clear that the United Nations was once again employing its de rigeur double standard against Israel and offering support instead to Hamas in Gaza.

“Due to UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres’] remarks we will refuse to issue visas to UN representatives,” Erdan confirmed on October 25 to Galei Tzahal Army Radio. “We have already refused a visa for Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs Martin Griffiths,” the ambassador added.

There was no official statement from U.N. Women until December 1. The statement was careful to provide moral equivalence between Hamas massacres and atrocities and Israel’s military response to the attacks. The statement did not mention the Hamas terrorists.

“We deeply regret that military operations have resumed in Gaza, and we reiterate that all women, Israeli women, Palestinian women, as all others, are entitled to a life lived in safety and free from violence,” the agency wrote. “We unequivocally condemn the brutal attacks by Hamas on Israel on 7 October. We are alarmed by the numerous accounts of gender-based atrocities and sexual violence during those attacks. This is why we have called for all accounts of gender-based violence to be duly investigated and prosecuted, with the rights of the victim at the core.

“We continue to call for accountability for all acts of gender-based violence committed on and after 7 October, the immediate and unconditional release of all remaining hostages, and a humanitarian ceasefire,” the agency wrote.

The U.N. agencies want Israel to conduct a ceasefire. That is to the advantage of Hamas, not Israel. Hamas will regroup and reorganize to get back into the war. Hostages are being found dead in the tunnels by Israel soldiers. The atrocities by Hamas have not ended. They will continue until Hamas is destroyed. Israel cannot stop until that happens. There is no two-state solution despite the idiots in the Biden administration talking about one. There was a ceasefire in effect on October 7. Hamas is not interested in peace and the same goes for Gazans who continue to vote Hamas into power.

Kicking out the U.N. officials is a good move for Israel.
