The United Nations has yet to condemn Hamas, although it has been quite free in its condemnations of Israel’s response to the vicious attacks of October 7.
Of particular note is the fact that UN Women, the organization’s “entity” (whatever that means) that is supposed to push for gender equality and the “empowerment of women” failed to condemn Hamas’ rape and murder of women and children.
Here is how UN Women describes its mission:
UN Women is the United Nations entity dedicated to gender equality and the empowerment of women. A global champion for women and girls, UN Women was established to accelerate progress on meeting their needs worldwide.
UN Women supports UN Member States as they set global standards for achieving gender equality, and works with governments and civil society to design laws, policies, programmes and services needed to ensure that the standards are effectively implemented and truly benefit women and girls worldwide. It works globally to make the vision of the Sustainable Development Goals a reality for women and girls and stands behind women’s equal participation in all aspects of life, focusing on four strategic priorities:
- Women lead, participate in and benefit equally from governance systems
- Women have income security, decent work and economic autonomy
- All women and girls live a life free from all forms of violence
- Women and girls contribute to and have greater influence in building sustainable peace and resilience, and benefit equally from the prevention of natural disasters and conflicts and humanitarian action
UN Women also coordinates and promotes the UN system’s work in advancing gender equality, and in all deliberations and agreements linked to the 2030 Agenda. The entity works to position gender equality as fundamental to the Sustainable Development Goals, and a more inclusive world.
As you might imagine, just as when Human Rights Watch took forever to condemn Hamas’ attacks on Israel while at the same time embracing Hamas’ narratives on the war, more than a few people took note of the silence of UN Women regarding the rape and kidnapping of Israeli women and girls.
Well, the silence is finally broken!
We unequivocally condemn the brutal attacks by Hamas on Israel on 7 October.
We are alarmed by the numerous accounts of gender-based atrocities and sexual violence during those attacks.— UN Women (@UN_Women) December 2, 2023
Good to know they care. Deeply. Passionately. So passionately that they only took 55 days to come up with the appropriate words to describe their disgust with Hamas.
Of course, it didn’t take quite so long to condemn Israel in its war against Hamas. In fact, when I Googled UN Women the page that shows up at the top is UN Women’s attack on Israel, which is based on statistics provided by…Hamas.
That it took 55 days for UN Women to “unequivocally” condemn the rapes and murders of Israeli women tells you everything you need to know about this corrupt organization. It has been calling for a ceasefire since practically day 1, but couldn’t unequivocally condemn Hamas for another 54 days.
The irony is thick. UN Women has been implicitly siding with the most misogynistic people on earth, failing to condemn their sexual violence against innocents, being mainly silent on the status of the hostages, and promoting Hamas propaganda in order to save the lives of the very terrorists who committed the atrocities.
The United Nations is a trash organization.
