Joe Biden is killing El Paso, TX with his policies.
It has gotten so bad that after years of downplaying the crisis even the MSM is starting to cover the crisis. This began, of course, just after the 2022 Midterm elections wrapped up. There was a cone of silence over the problem–polling indicated that Americans were very concerned about immigration. But once the votes had been cast and the Democrats for the most part saved the media clearly felt more comfortable covering the facts.
And the facts are indeed bad. Thousands of migrants are illegally crossing the Rio Grande in the region, and it makes good sense for them to do so. The river is low and concrete lined, making the actual passage there relatively safe and easy. The federal government does nothing to stop the crossings, and they are there to “process” the immigrants (hand out papers and free phones), and they even transport a fraction of them away from the city.
But for many the free ride stops in El Paso itself. The federal government just dumps the migrants on the streets with a wave and a nod, and the migrants are left to fend for themselves. These migrants are “released to El Paso,” which really just means dumped onto the locals.
The scenes are horrify, as you can see in this Fox News report.
It’s not only Fox News that is reporting the problem, though. Other networks are covering the crisis, although they are less willing to show how awful the conditions are for both the migrants and the residents of the city.
I went to the El Paso website and they have an entire section dedicated to their efforts, and it makes for depressing reading. I’ll share with you some selected answers to the FAQs. The list is too long to repeat it all:
How many people arrive each day?
According to Customs and Border Patrol officials, an average of 1,500 migrants present themselves daily to CBP in the El Paso region. Once processed, approximately 800 – 1000 are released to local NGOs. They are also released to the City of El Paso. Once we receive them, we take them through the triage process at our welcome center. There, we ensure we welcome them, feed them, give them water, and help get them to their destination through transport like chartered buses. We also help shelter them through hotels and through our support with the NGOs. Additionally, we also support our NGOs by providing staff members through the staffing we provide to these non-profits.How many migrants have arrived since the wave started?
From April 2022 to mid-September 2022, more than 62,000 people have passed through El Paso. In September alone, more than 13,000 have passed through El Paso, the highest number so far, as compared to other months.
Why is this movement into El Paso happening now?
They are arriving in El Paso because it is currently the safest place to cross the Rio Grande River into the United States. Also, as we know, migrants are coming to the United States to escape economic devastation and extreme crime in Venezuela.
Why are they allowed to cross into the country?
Migrants are provided asylum from economic oppression, drug trade, and human trafficking. Customs and Border Patrol apprehend and process the migrants before releasing them into El Paso. Migrants are assigned court dates to determine their status in the United States. Additionally, due to U.S. and Venezuelan diplomatic relations, Venezuelans are not able to be deported. Why are migrants on the streets, at the Greyhound Bus Station, and at the El Paso International Airport?
Street releases are a last resort for Customs and Border Patrol. When necessary, due to capacity issues and federal regulations which limit the amount of time migrants may be held, street releases of migrants are done near travel sites, such as the El Paso Airport and Greyhound Bus Station. The City provides daily roving teams to assist migrants who have been released on the streets with temporary shelter, food and water, communication, and transportation arrangements so that they may meet up with family or sponsors in other parts of the U.S.How is the City of El Paso paying for the costs of welcoming, feeding, processing, and transporting these people to their destinations of choice?
The City of El Paso is utilizing funds from the general fund to pay for costs related to the migrant crisis. The City of El Paso continues to file for reimbursement through Federal Emergency Management Agency’s (FEMA) Emergency Food and Shelter Program. We work closely with Congresswoman Escobar’s office, FEMA, the White House, and CBP to secure funding for the migrant crisis.
How much, on average, is the City of El Paso spending each day to care for these people?
The cost has risen from $55,000 a day to up to $250,000 daily. As the number of migrants rises, so do the costs accrued by the City of El Paso. El Paso continues to request reimbursement through FEMA’s Emergency Food and Shelter Program.
This ABC report shows the actual river crossing where migrants cross into the United States. Law enforcement is right there, watching it happen. Their role is not to defend the border or prevent the crossings, but to watch and then aid the migrants once they enter the US. There is absolutely no sense that this is discouraged. It is manifestly an open border. Until the State of Texas put up concertina wire there were no obstructions to walking right in.
The federal government is actually obstructing efforts to close the border. Arizona was forced by the Biden Administration to remove its makeshift border wall. It is obviously policy to facilitate crossing into the United States, even at the cost of ruining an American city. It is only Texas, after all.
CBS, too has noticed that El Paso is in crisis. Homeless shelters are overwhelmed, migrants are living on the street, and residents are using their own resources to provide food and clothing to the needy. This is all due to Biden’s policies, but that fact is still not directly mentioned by the MSM.
It is a “crisis” with no author, as if this is part of the natural order of things.
It is not. The border crisis both preceded and has come back since Trump’s presidency. While illegal crossings happened under Trump at a still unsustainable rate, the number dropped dramatically during his presidency. This was due to his policies, not some sudden improvement in political and economic conditions south of the border. Policies make a difference, and Biden’s has been to open the border.
The result is suffering and death for many migrants, and the destruction of American cities like El Paso.
The spike in migrant arrivals in El Paso this month has overwhelmed local resources and shelters, forcing hundreds of migrants to sleep on the city's streets amid freezing temperatures and prompting its mayor to declare a state of emergency.https://t.co/iCrHUg8vKX

America is declining by choice, not some inevitable historical force. Latin American countries are not poor because Latin Americans are incapable of succeeding; most do well here in the US, where we have had a free market and the rule of law. It is the poor policies of those countries that made them disasters.
Joe Biden has learned the lesson of these countries–he has chosen to emulate their policies and undermine the rule of law in our country. The lesson he learned was how to destroy a country, and he is doing so.
Why, exactly?
I can only guess their motives, but it is undeniable that in these countries the Elites™ still thrive while the rest of the people are crushed. Perhaps they believe that will happen here, and those at the top will be the winners. In America there is social and economic mobility, while the opposite is true in failed states.
Is that what they want? Perhaps. Or perhaps they believe that in America there will be no breaking point where the system can’t handle the influx. Clearly they revel in the social friction that their policies have brought to America, and believe they benefit from it.
Whatever the exact reason, the people at the top are not responding to crises, they are creating them.
