Sunday morning talking heads

A Halloween edition of the Sunday shows will focus on two terrifying scenarios haunting Democrats this morning. One: Are they really about to lose the governor’s seat in a state Biden won by 10 points last fall? Terry McAuliffe is the star guest on “Meet the Press,” where he’ll beg House progressives with tears in his eyes to pass the g-ddamned bipartisan infrastructure bill tomorrow and give Dem voters in his state a reason to turn out on Tuesday. He’ll also address the palpable sense of flop sweat surrounding his campaign as Glenn Youngkin continues to surge in the polls. And hopefully he’ll comment on the fiasco that played out on Friday when his own deputies got duped by a dopey Lincoln Project stunt aimed at comparing Youngkin supporters to Nazis.

Two: Are Democrats ever going to swing a deal on infrastructure or will they tank Biden’s agenda, confirming suspicions that they can’t govern even when they control the White House and both chambers of Congress? Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg will try to sell centrists and progressives on compromise when he appears on “This Week,” “State of the Union,” and “Fox News Sunday.” His previous half-dozen interviews on the Sunday shows didn’t convince Democrats to play nicely but maybe the next half-dozen will do the trick. Progressive stalwarts Bernie Sanders and Ro Khanna are also on this morning to give their side’s view of the current standoff. Sanders will speak to “State of the Union” while Khanna chats with “Face the Nation.”

Finally, two Trump nemeses within the GOP are booked to discuss their futures, one of which will end in retirement and the other of which is likely to. Adam Kinzinger will talk with “This Week” about his decision not to run for reelection next year while Brad Raffensperger discusses his upcoming primary in Georgia against Trumpkin Jody Hice with “Meet the Press.” The full line-up is at the AP.
