Friday Smiles: Some Very Savvy People Break Down the Democratic Freak Out

Besides roaming the interwebs and combing through so many different X accounts myself, I'm lucky enough to have a dear friend from high school who once worked in Congress. Nowadays, he does his own thing, but just because he's not in the political arena anymore doesn't mean he's not knee-deep in what's happening. He also is kind enough to share goodies when he finds them.

With the two of us chatting this week, I thought I'd drop some interesting perspectives from some of the respected political sages still opining and give everyone's spirits a boost, schmaybe even a solid one.

Not so much to make anyone feel cocky, but to infuse a warm glow of  "Yeah, we can DO this."

We can because of what Trump and Vance are doing, but also because of what Harris and Walz are incapable of doing.

First positive thing - truly unfiltered CNN poll watcher Harry Enten calls it Democratic "bedwetting."

What it translates to in numbers is a seemingly irreversible Harris-Walz slide out of contention in battleground states.

We can call that a "positive development" and really encouraging. These are numbers you can see - quantifiable gains as Harris posts constant point-after-point losses like Chinese water polling torture.

Salvage efforts are hurting more than they're helping. When running mate Whoppers Walz gets sent out to bat clean-up, the results are predictably ghastly, and more of those last few stalwart "undecideds" peel off and return to the land of the sane.

About those grocery bills that are "misinformation" as far as Harris and Walz are concerned. They're also one of the top three voter concerns going into the election, and voters have been repeatedly blown off by the Democratic team.

That dismissive attitude is hurting them bigly...

...and it is too late to change anyone's mind. There will be no convincing voters Democrats are the team to "turn the page" as Harris is part of the team that put us in the situation we're in.

Voters think America’s economy stinks. There’s nothing that will change that before the election
The job market is booming. Inflation has come back down to Earth. Americans are spending like crazy.

Whatever. Voters don’t care. They still think the economy is trash.

...“The report card that consumers care about is their daily grocery receipts, not a CPI report from a government agency,” said Micah Roberts, a Republican pollster who helps conduct nonpartisan surveys gauging voters’ views of the economy for news stations.

Most voters likely don’t even follow the overall economic trends, let alone one month’s data, he said. Instead, their views on the economy are shaped by how far their dollars are stretching today compared to recent times. That track record isn’t great nowadays.

That lack of working-class/kitchen table understanding and connection, however much Walz wants to tinker with carburetors for the cameras, is what's costing them dearly with Hispanics, too. The problem is they're too bubble-wrapped in their own patronizing superior opinions to believe it.

Latino voters own businesses, work hard, and buy food like everyone else. They want the best education and a better life for their kids like every other American used to. Those aspirations are solidly there. They do not appreciate watching the border awash with freeloaders who will further depress wages and short-circuit immigration/naturalization procedures they might have been waiting years for after following the rules.

More bedwetting? The shift in Latino voters is real, unlike Kamala's Univision "unscripted" town hall.

Speaking of which, a memorable moment from that very same town hall that I didn't cover in my earlier post.

It was a real, honest-to-God gut-buster.

Prepare yourself and then watch as Kamala touts her record.

Her "record"? As the world answers, "WHUT record?"

Ergo, more freak out as Dems shriek "NNOOOOO!!!!" to the Heavens while wise sages like Newt Gingrich and Mark Halperin dissect her shortcomings piece by piece.

...“The fact that she had apparently not attended any of the hurricane briefings for four years, the fact that Governor DeSantis said she never called during any of the hurricanes in the years she was vice president until now, when it's a campaign issue, all of that is just a reminder to people that in a lot of ways, she is not a serious person. She didn't do her job, she didn't do her homework, she didn't do the grinding daily things you have to do to be successful at the top.”

So, I hope these little nudges of positive reinforcement have you feeling solidly sanguine heading into the weekend.

But I am fond of a little lagniappe, and this piece made me grin from ear-to-ear, again, via Gingrich.

It's too delicious not to share and savor the possibility.

... “It’s just my hunch …. that sometime in the last two weeks, Joe and Jill looked at each other and thought, you know, wouldn't it be a great legacy if Joe's the only guy ever to beat Trump? And I think the stuff he's done to undermine her in the last ten days is pretty amazing.”

God, I LOVE it!

That's a conspiracy I can get behind.

And ZOMG, if it's true?
