When the AWFL Cat Lady Is Also Certifiably BAT Sh...Well...You Know What I Mean

I have long given up on any attempt to rationalize, less mind understand, the liberal-minded and progressives in the female half (or so) of the population of humans occupying our formerly "civilized" world.

They always faintly annoyed me. I think it was more the smug air of self-important do-goodyness that surrounded them like a halo or toxic smoke ring than any one person themself or ideological dispute.

They tend to always be right and righteous even without the slightest reason to be. Usually the first hand up in class or the voice you hear saying, "I told you so" even when they'd done nothing of the kind.

Just annoying individuals.

Who became the worst sort of empowered fascists as they started recognizing that numbers are power, and began grouping themselves in herds large and small to run and ruin other people's lives. Because that's what mean girls do.

Never more so than during COVID. The Karens of AWFL, the affluent white female liberal league, became enforcers of mask mandates and FOLLOW THE ARROWS traffic enforcement at Publix or Costco. God forbid you politely (or no) told one to piss off and mind her own mask, often you were treated to abuse about endangering lives by NOT FOLLOWING THE RULES.

Every 4th-grade tattle-tale despised elementary school bus monitor had suddenly become aisle police at the grocery storeYou hated them then, and for God's sake, you didn't want them in your face now.

You can easily tell who they are. They haven't gone anywhere, just grown up and joined a bigger clique. These AWFLs have the DEI talk down perfectly - the schooled, Bud Light executive expansive hand gestures, the dripping-with-disdain glance should you interject a Neaderthalish thought. They preside over school, HOA and message boards alike, and infest most media outlets.

They're hard to shake.

Displaying what might be considered cultish behavior by adhering to their societal rules, they do seem sad about the waning of their halcyon COVID days of absolute authority  They miss their masks, their boosters. Mourn the lost power to make you jump when your eyes were focused on finding an obscure can on a loaded grocery shelf and how they'd bark at you about arrows you didn't follow in the approved traffic pattern to get there.

God forbid they contract COVID today - it's inevitably chant the mantra time. "We thank thee, Saint Fauci for our initial vaccination, our six boosters, and the N95 mask we were wearing, saving us from a much worse case and certain death...RAH-MEN."

Like a collective of Taylor Lorenzes, they are so broken yet have no idea how sad they are...besides downright obnoxious and vile.

This was never so apparent as in an op-ed printed in the New York Times a week ago.

ZOMG

I thank God I saw a tweet dissecting it because I would have NEVER believed it.

An AWFL had a bat fly into her bedroom.

This entire thing is a paean to whacked-out Karenhood.

Katy bar the bat Schlitz crazy door.

One night a few weeks ago I went to bed early, bothered by the oppressive heat and dismayed by that week’s political news — President Biden’s lackluster ABC News interview and Donald Trump’s claim earlier that day that he knew “nothing” about Project 2025. I was tired, too, from explaining the recent daily news broadcasts to my two daughters — one 6 and the other one 10 — including what the phrases “hush money” and “porn star” meant. My husband stayed up working, and very early the next morning a bat flew into our bedroom, through a screen door left open by accident. What happened over the next few days restored my faith in the systems in our country that keep us safe.

"Yeah, and...?" a rational human being says to themselves.

A bat flew in. Didn't bite anyone. Didn't scratch anyone. Hadn't pooped on the bed when they left.

They both booked out of there, left the bat "isolated" in their room, and called the county health department.

The bat left the same way he got in.

They both wound up getting rabies shots.

She is effusively somehow grateful both for the shots and that Trump wasn't president to prevent them from vaccinating themselves yet again. Chanted the vaccination mantra.

She also sang a hymn of praise to the CDC for "protecting us" while hammering Trump again in a second paragraph of spleen for *checks notes* Project 2025.

VURT DA FURK

She closes with:

...I want to believe Kamala Harris is right when she says “we are not going back” to a time when every calamity leaves us on our own. I don’t want to live in a country that doesn’t hold the health and safety of its citizens in high regard, and I don’t want to be left to make important decisions without guidance from qualified professionals. But for now and for at least the next six months, I don’t. I live in the United States of America — land of bats, land of doctors, land of public health — and that’s worth fighting for.

LAND OF BATS

Yeah. DINGbats is as kind as I can be about this sad, sad tale from someone who desperately, desperately needs H-A-L-P.

She's the mayor of Crazytown.

I have to give props to Toby Rogers of The Brownstone Institute for unearthing this gem. He wrote a hysterical tweet about it, that closed itself with some sound observations:

I have a serious suggestion for a vaccine that would benefit all of mankind. Should they be able to effect a cure for the AWFL, the world would be assured of harmony in grocery aisles and unnecessary insurance costs wasted on hypochondriacs who indulge their freakish fears incessantly, less mind imposing them on the rest of us.

Perhaps even spawn a generation of pleasant, well-mannered children who don't want to carve themselves into another sex.

It's a pleasant thought.
