I’m not sure that our dementia-riddled presidential vegetable has that level of awareness, but I’m pretty sure he knows it’s all been going south for a while, and today?
Well, the meteorite Schlitz hit the fan.
Speaker Kevin McCarthy, bolstered by a mountain of evidence already before him – courtesy of Rep. James Comer’s dogged detective work since taking his committee chairmanship, as well as courageous whistleblowers now coming forward to a Republican Congress – formally announced that Republicans were opening an impeachment inquiry against President Joe Biden.

…Republicans have uncovered serious and credible allegations into President Biden’s conduct. Taken together, these allegations paint a picture of a culture of corruption. Now here’s what we know so far. Through our investigations we have found that President Biden did lie to the American people about his own knowledge of his family’s foreign business dealings. Eyewitnesses have testified that the president joined on multiple phone calls and had multiple interactions – dinners – that resulted in cars and millions of dollars into his son’s and his son’s business partners.
We know that bank records show that nearly $20 million in payments were directed to the Biden family members and associates through various shell companies. The treasury department alone has over 150 transactions involving the Biden family and other business associates that were flagged as suspicious activity by U.S. banks. Even a trusted FBI informant has alleged a bribe to the Biden family. Biden used his official office to coordinate with Hunter Biden’s business partners about Hunter’s role in Burisma, the Ukrainian energy company.
Finally, despite these serious allegations, it appears the president’s family have been offered special treatment by Biden own administration. Treatment that they not otherwise would have received if they were not related to the president.
These are allegations of abuse of power, obstruction, and corruption and they warrant further investigation by the House of Representatives. That’s why, today, I am directing our House committee to open a formal impeachment inquiry into President Joe Biden
I don’t think he missed anything in that succinct little round-up, do you?
As Ed noted the other day, Comer probably had nailed his smoking gun leading to this when he latched on to direct communications – that’s the key word there – between then Vice-President Biden and his son’s business, just before that very same Vice-President got Ukrainian prosecutor Viktor Shokin fired during an ongoing – and inconvenient – Burisma investigation.
Remember when Joe Biden claimed — for years — that he never discussed Hunter Biden’s businesses, let alone participated in them? Good times, good times. The more that House investigators drill into Biden’s communications, the more evidence they appear to find that he’s been a lying dog-faced pony soldier all along.
Now James Comer appears to have found evidence not just of back-channel participation by then-VP Biden through his secret e-mails, but of direct and official participation. The House Oversight chair has demanded specific communications from Biden’s time in the Obama administration, including one that shows a direct intervention by the then-VP into the affairs of Hunter and Burisma, and just days before another extraordinary intervention:

…On the contrary, this e-mail and others like it make Joe Biden’s VP office look more like a war room for Hunter and Burisma. This makes Biden’s efforts to get Viktor Shokin removed look even more suspicious, as Biden’s visit to Ukraine came just four days after Biden “signed off” on Burisma’s talking points on corruption allegations.
Comer needed that direct connection to really start tying it all together, and looks to have been the key.

With the power of an official impeachment inquiry, Comer and his partner in decoding Biden criminology, Jim Jordan, will be able to force the hand of recalcitrant federal offices who have been refusing to hand over records pertaining the the Biden family. The stonewalling now becomes a matter of law, as opposed to merely being obstructive gate guarding. Treasury with the various flagged documents, the FBI withholding emails and informant files, or redacting them to the point of illegibility – the games have gone on and on. Now Comer and the committee have the legal firepower to squelch it and compel evidence production.
And I pray to God they play twice as much hardball as ever Democrats did getting it.
Who is going to be willing to come forward now, with the protection of a Congressional impeachment covering their whistle blowing? Democrats have to be sweating bullets.
It must really be a frightening thought, and hitting too close for comfort because all the right people are wigging out unmercifully right now about…well…how awful impeachments are.

Just the additional power to dig is going to send them shrieking for the hills, but the additional chances of the press actually covering it? ZOMG Just as everyone in the Democratic Party was biting their lips and smiling through the pain after Biden’s miserable trip abroad and 9/11 disasters?
The exposure is going to be devastating, even without a Senate to hold an actual impeachment for his sins. Stripping the facade off the whole filthy enterprise, from Garland to Wray, Yellen – right through the stormtrooper ranks.
Holy smokes. This couldn’t happen at a worse time for the old criminal and his thugs.
