SBF lost his "Stay Out of Jail" card

Gosh. I wonder if they only pushed this because everything’s blowing up over David Weiss, Merrick Garland, and the Special Counsel caper?

Poor Sam Bankman-Fried. What a day to be the guy in court when prosecutors all over are trying to prove how tough, unbiased, and unfriendly they can be.

Sam Bankman-Fried will head to jail on Friday after a judge sided with a request by federal prosecutors to revoke the FTX founder’s bail over alleged witness tampering. Bankman-Fried was remanded to custody directly from a court hearing in New York.

Judge Lewis Kaplan denied Bankman-Fried’s request for delayed detention pending an appeal. Unless the appeal is successful, he is expected to remain in custody until his criminal trial, which is due to begin on Oct. 2.

Of course, they’re not being quite as “tough” or quite as “unfriendly” as they would be if it was “BW” or “DS” who’d defrauded investors for billions and spent damn near that amount on Republican causes, while leaking personal information from another co-conspirator’s private accounts to reporters or anyone he thought could help.

Darned if he doesn’t get to keep his laptop! Special, special boy.

But how much help did he need, really? It wasn’t but a couple of weeks ago that the Justice Department, in deference to the almighty and powerful Bahamas, dropped a couple more of the charges against the rumpled former entrepreneur. Gracious, didn’t that cause a ruckus, but no worries – SBF sailed through it, as did the sparkling reputation of Merrick Garland’s crime covering syndicate.

Now I guess they need a scalp and SBF has a fuzzy head full for the easy taking. So the “witness tampering” accusation will keep the lad in the hoosgow until 2 October.

Now, if he winds up where rumor has it he’s going, I hope he doesn’t take the expensive laptop. He might not have it for long.

It seems that SBF’s attorney attempted to have SBF’s incarceration put off for a few days, so they could either wangle NO jail or at least a better quality jail for him. Judge Kaplan was quick to deny his application, especially after prosecutors noted how much more “mischief” SBF could “could accomplish” if he was loose for another couple of days.

The judge wasn’t messing around any more. Away he went.

Judge Kaplan: The defendant is remanded.
AUSA Sassoon: This should not change the trial date. We’ll stick to all deadlines.

Now, still in courtroom, handcuffs are applied to Sam Bankman-Fried. He’s taken out the door.
Story coming – and vlog (then song – and booklet)

My only concern is I hope all the cameras are working wherever they stick him and that the guards are ther and awake.

He knows where a lot of the bodies are buried.
