White House still cool with 5 yr olds whacking private parts, FL and IN are "NOPE"

This whole exchange here, between the French Lady and the reporter at the press conference today, should be mind-blowing in its inherent, casual, callous evil but? We’re sadly getting kind of used to that out of this White House.

I’m not sure who the fellow asking the question was, but what he was referring to whilst trying to wring an answer out of the rock at the podium was this news out of Indiana today.

The Indiana governor had originally said he wasn’t going to sign the legislation, but I guess he got the message.

What’s also contained in the Indiana legislation is pretty important, too. If a minor is now taking hormone therapy, they’re going to have to stop.

Indiana’s governor signed a bill banning all gender-affirming care for minors Wednesday, joining at least 12 other states that have enacted laws restricting or banning such care.

Republican Gov. Eric Holcomb signed the legislation after Republican majorities in the Legislature approved it. The law will go into effect July 1, and trans youth currently taking medication to transition would have until the end of the year to stop doing so.

As the governor said when signing it, if you feel you need therapies or surgeries, you can freely make that choice as a mature adult…

…“Permanent gender-changing surgeries with lifelong impacts and medically prescribed preparation for such a transition should occur as an adult, not as a minor,” Holcomb said in a statement. “There has and will continue to be debate within the medical community about the best ways to provide physical and mental health care for adolescents who are struggling with their own gender identity, and it is important that we recognize and understand those struggles are real. With all of that in mind, I have decided to sign SB 480 into law.”

…and, as one can’t have mature adults making choices, the ACLU went into meltdown and filed suit. Of course they did. God forbid they were actually advocates for children to be children.

…“This is a devastating development for transgender youth in Indiana and heartbreaking for all of us who love and support them,” said Jane Henegar, ACLU of Indiana executive director, in a statement issued shortly after the bill was signed into law. “Indiana politicians continue to fail trans youth, so it is up to each and every one of us to rise against their ignorance and surround these young people with strength, safety, and love. In addition to targeting an already vulnerable group, this law blatantly disregards the rights of parents and families to make decisions about their children’s health. The ACLU is dedicated to overturning this unconstitutional law and is confident the state will find itself completely incapable of defending it in court.”

Happily, here in Florida, our state senate passed their version of a bill on sex reassignment surgeries for children.

Besides reaffirming the basic rights of BOTH parents, it’s a pretty comprehensive approach, covering even what to do with children who move into the state who are being subjected to these gross abuses. The Boards of both Medicine and Osteopathic Medicine would have 60 days to develop an emergency approach to handle cases.

…Yarborough said the bill amends Florida’s child custody statutes to “protect the rights of parents,” and “ensure a pathway for a parent to petition the court if the other parent attempts to subject their child to a sex reassignment prescription or procedure.”

An adopted amendment, which was proposed by Yarborough, would grant courts of the state temporary emergency jurisdiction over a child present in the state if the child has been “subjected to, or is threatened with being subjected to sex reassignment prescriptions or procedures.”

The bill prohibits Florida healthcare practitioners from providing sex reassignment prescriptions and procedures for minors treatments for children, but makes an exception for children who were already receiving prescription treatments when the bill becomes law.

The FL house has a concurrent bill that’s already passed all its committee work-ups and is just waiting on a floor vote. As for the FL medical community itself:

…Florida medical boards had approved a rule in February that prohibited minors from receiving puberty blockers, cross-sex hormones, and surgery to treat gender dysphoria. The rule went into effect in March.

There won’t be any waffling from our governor, you can bet your bippy on that.
