HotAir Cub Reporter: Ron DeSantis Rally in Pensacola

I wanted to tee you up some motivating RED WAVE red meat for the approaching Last Weekend Before Election Day. A campaign rally for Florida Governor Ron DeSantis Tuesday afternoon right here at home gave me the perfect excuse for both a rowdy time out and a good story! It was held on the deck at The Pensacola Fishhouse (the restaurant in an American Pickers episode where the boys trade a ship model they’d gotten for a couple of stuffed bears) on a perfect Panhandle day – blue skies, just enough of a breeze and mid-70’s temperature, and, even with the middle of the day timing, a good crowd showed up, ready to rock and roar (Yeah, my bucket head in the way there, holding the camera up.).

What you can’t see in that picture is the raised landing running along the building or the second-story balcony are both packed with folks, too. Honestly, everyone was ready to hoot and holler – the energy was palpable. The event started with the usual local pols speaking before the governor came out, and they all did surprisingly well. It can be so excruciatingly painful listening to awkward (or arrogant) “vote for me” pitches, but these were all pretty funny, appealing and mercifully brief. The introduction of the Governor was treated with a thunderous ovation – there is no doubt how NW FL feels about THIS guy! Gov DeSantis wasted no time diving right in either – he let it rip from the get-go. This is a quick clip of him wondering why Charlie Crist would have Biden flying into campaign for him.

Below is the whole 45 minutes of his speech. Even if you fast forward through it, every place you might stop to listen is nothing but gold. If you have a chance, have a listen. Also, please cut me a huss on video – I had to work around Mr. Blue Ball Cap and a very tall fellow right in front of me, but you can hear every word. As I said, it’s Red Wave gold.

Midway through, there was a bit of a rumble outside the venue – a shrieking chorus of women’s voices whose words we couldn’t make out (and really didn’t want to, trying to listen to the governor). Nor could we see who was doing the wailing, as our crowd was under the deck shelter and raised above the water. My first guess was Rebekah Jones minions thanks to the shrill female chanting ensemble work and the general lack of class of the protest in general. Another friend wound up with a video taken from the balcony, which revealed women with Crist, etc., signs howling from a far-off shore opposite the marina. Pretty hilarious. Rebekah Jones yard signs popped up like mushrooms in the main road median when they finally scuttled off, so I called that one correctly.

Florida Dems aren’t the only ones wigging out about DeSantis. It seems left-leaning news organizations across the country took exception to the governor’s message at a small town rally. Weird, no? They are really worried about this guy.

They should be worried. There wasn’t one controversial thing he said – not controversial to anyone but a left-leaning, Woke idealogue, that is. I’m sure statements like these are terrifying and infuriating them:

…DeSantis used his time to tell voters why they should vote for him, citing multiple pieces of legislation he says he helped get through the legislature to protect parental rights and increase teacher pay.

“We were right to stand up for parents rights,” he said. “Parents matter. Parents have a fundamental role in the education and upbringing of their kids.

“Schools, school systems, charter schools, private schools, whatever we have are all very important and they serve an important role,” he continued, “but they do not supersede the rights of parents.”

The governor mentioned there’s a good chance of flipping up to four seats in SoFL for a supermajority in the FL legislature, too, which dovetails nicely with the early voting stats we’ve been receiving.
HOOO, boy. Times have changed Blue Team.
