Well, hello. It’s been a while.

I was unaware of the sheer volume of logistical and financial dealings that come in the wake of a loved one’s death. That on top of grieving and having a baby have made it a busy and bizarre five months. We are doing…surprisingly well, I think. My husband and I made easy babies, and my three-month-old sleeps mostly through the night and is calm and sweet and smiley all day long. My toddler talks and sings all day long and is occasionally even sweet to her sister. She’s a strong-willed little thing (no idea where she gets it) with the average number of two-year-old tantrums and plenty of charm to make you forget about them. We are surrounded by friends and family who help me at every turn.

In adjusting to our new normal, I’m trying to figure out exactly what that is. After such a giant event, perspective and priorities certainly shift, though I’ve been pleased to feel throughout this process that I remain at my core the person I was before— basically happy and confident.

On the work front, I felt the need for a change of pace. Starting March 1, I’m excited to announce I’ll be writing at The Federalist. I’ll be doing a mix of cultural and political writing, a little more long-form fare, and some Federalist podcast hosting duties. So, if you’re interested in my take on the GOP primary, “The Bachelor,” and the intersection thereof, that’s where to find it. (No really, Leah Event Planner is to Lauren B. I won’t be leaving the wonderful Salem/Townhall/HotAir team entirely. I cannot thank y’all enough—both my colleagues and our readers—for granting me the prayers, good thoughts, support and flexibility I needed to get us through the last several months. I’m sure many of you gave to the education fund for my children, and I thank you sincerely. It was an incredible comfort to us in a time of great uncertainty, and will be used with great care for their futures. It is no small blessing that I worked with the most productive blogging team in the history of blogging when this happened. Allah, Ed, and Jazz are the kindest and most caring writing machines I know. I knew they’d keep everything humming along with characteristic hard work and wit with no trouble at all. I don’t know how they do it.

I will be with everyone at the CPAC debate-watch party in March 3, and look forward to seeing you there if you’re making the trip! I’ll also join the Salem team on radio, at special events, and here at HotAir.com occasionally. Thank you a million times over for everything. In the time I’ve been at HotAir, I’ve had two kids, written one book, and experienced the greatest highs and lows of my life. It’s been a hell of a ride, and I look forward to continuing it with you all in a new role.
