McAuliffe's SuperPAC paid $500,000 to campaign of wife of FBI official overseeing Hillary email investigation

The Wall Street Journal has a report that in any other presidential campaign would be a game-changer this close to election day.

According to the report, Clinton crony and Virginia governor Terry McAuliffe gave close to $500K dollars through a Super PAC to the political campaign of the wife of a high-level FBI official who had oversight of the investigation into Hillary Clinton’s use of an unauthorized, non-secure, non-government email server while she was Secretary of State.

Campaign finance records show Mr. McAuliffe’s political-action committee donated $467,500 to the 2015 state Senate campaign of Dr. Jill McCabe, who is married to Andrew McCabe, now the deputy director of the FBI.

The Virginia Democratic Party, over which Mr. McAuliffe exerts considerable control, donated an additional $207,788 worth of support to Dr. McCabe’s campaign in the form of mailers, according to the records. That adds up to slightly more than $675,000 to her candidacy from entities either directly under Mr. McAuliffe’s control or strongly influenced by him. The figure represents more than a third of all the campaign funds Dr. McCabe raised in the effort.

Mr. McAuliffe and other state party leaders recruited Dr. McCabe to run, according to party officials. She lost the election to incumbent Republican Dick Black.

A spokesman for the governor said he “supported Jill McCabe because he believed she would be a good state senator. This is a customary practice for Virginia governors… Any insinuation that his support was tied to anything other than his desire to elect candidates who would help pass his agenda is ridiculous.”

The timeline here is important.

On March 2, 2015 the New York Times revealed that Mrs. Clinton used a private server for her government business as Secretary of State.

On March 7, 2015, Gov. McAuliffe and other high-ranking Virginia Democrats meet with Jill McCabe for the purpose of recruiting her to run for Senate in the Commonwealth of Virginia.

Mrs. McCabe’s husband, Andrew McCabe, a high-ranking FBI official, is in attendance at this meeting:

The governor could recall only one meeting with Mr. McCabe—when he and other state Democrats met with the couple on March 7, 2015, to urge Dr. McCabe to run, according to the spokesman.

The FBI Maintains that Mr. McCabe upheld the highest possible ethical standards in this twisted we of favors and political entanglements:

FBI officials said that after that meeting with the governor in Richmond on March 7, Mr. McCabe sought ethics advice from the bureau and followed it, avoiding involvement with public corruption cases in Virginia, and avoiding any campaign activity or events.

Uh huh.

Oh, one other aspect of this sordid little story that will make you want to shower all the Clinton slime off your body just for reading this: McAuliffe, himself, is currently the target of an FBI investigation. And McCabe remains as the 2nd in command at the Bureau.
