Private Calls Between Team Biden and Big Donors are Not Going Well at All

Townhall Media

It's tough out there in big donor land for President Biden's re-election campaign. You hate to see it happen.

Just kidding. The president has no business running for re-election and the whole world knows it. Viewers around the world watched Biden's horrible debate performance against former President Trump and the side-by-side comparison was alarming, to say the least. The man has no business being in office right now, much less running for another four years.

Does Biden make it until November or inauguration day in January? That is a legitimate question. Also, who is really in charge in the White House? It's time to admit that the White House is being run by a group of unelected officials, including Jill Biden. This is 25th Amendment territory.

Former DHS Secretary Johnson said the quiet part out loud this morning on Morning Joe

How's that for destroying democracy? The president suffers from dementia and is only reliably capable of working between 10:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. so it's fine for those around him to pick up the slack during the other hours of an average day. No. No, that is not fine. The president was elected to do the job. If he can't (and Biden can't) then he needs to step down.

The Biden campaign is making private calls to big donors in an attempt to soothe their anger and frustration over the position the Democrats find themselves in. This is the doing of the White House, the DNC, Democrat elected officials, and the media. All of them perpetuated the lie that Joe Biden is fine and fully capable of doing the job. There is no credibility left now that the brutal truth has been exposed. Imagine being a big Democrat donor, raising millions of dollars for Biden's re-election campaign, and then seeing the lies all unravel on Thursday night. There is no going back.

Immediately after the debate and the meltdown that came from it, Team Biden reached out to Hollywood big donors, including campaign co-chair Jeffrey Katzenberg. Katzenberg is said to be taking a wait-and-see position for now. Team Biden tried again yesterday with a call meant to calm Hollywood's nerves.

“Every president in my lifetime has had a shitty first debate” campaign chair Jennifer O’Malley Dillon told the assembled contributors on a 2:30 pm PT scheduled call that started late. “We’re very confident in the president’s ability to go out there and make his case clearly.”

She is reported to have been the only one on the call, which included other campaign staff, who sounded confident. That's what she is paid for, after all. It's her job.

Hollywood is not impressed.

Following days of essentially “ignoring what we saw with our eyes,” as one long term Hollywood Biden supporter told Deadline, the call Monday was to around 500 donors. As calls for the President to consider stepping aside or proving his mettle with a long and live sit-down interview with a network anchor proliferate among what was once a loyal legion, the campaign has been offering what one source today called “stupid spin.”

“They are no even beginning to address the elephant in the room!”

One big donor angrily asked afterward the question we all have: "who is running the country?" A producer on the call said it was "a f*cking farce…insult to our intelligence.”

Top ranking Democrats feel gaslit. Democrat National Committee members are receiving calls to settle them, too. It's not going so great with them, either.

DNC Chairman Jaime Harrison and Biden campaign manager Julie Chavez Rodriguez held a Saturday afternoon call with dozens of committee members across the country, a group of some of the most influential members of the party. They largely ignored Biden’s weak showing Thursday night or the avalanche of criticism that followed.

Multiple committee members on the call, most granted anonymity to talk about the private discussion, described feeling like they were being gaslighted — that they were being asked to ignore the dire nature of the party’s predicament. The call, they said, may have worsened a widespread sense of panic among elected officials, donors and other stakeholders.

Those on the DNC call said that Harrison presented a "rosy assessment" of Biden's path forward. However, the chat function was disabled and no questions were allowed. Yikes!

“I was hoping for more of a substantive conversation instead of, ‘Hey, let’s go out there and just be cheerleaders,’ without actually addressing a very serious issue that unfolded on American television for millions of people to see,” said Joe Salazar, an elected DNC member from Colorado, who was on the call. “There were a number of things that could have been said in addressing the situation. But we didn’t get that. We were being gaslit.”

There is no substance with Joe Biden. He isn't up to the job. He isn't capable of presenting an agenda for another term in office. All he can do is attack Trump and be a fearmonger. His presidency has been a disaster and Americans suffer because of his failures.

Some well-known Hollywood names are not doing well

A debate watch party in Los Angeles on Thursday night happened to feature Harris’ husband Doug Emhoff, Pritzker, Whitmer and Beshear. There were other high-profile attendees – by a few answers in, Rob Reiner was screaming about losing and Jane Fonda had tears in her eyes, according to people in the room.

That's brutal. The chickens are coming home to roost. The reality is exposed now and there is no going back. It's going to be a long four months for these people who counted on the big lie continuing through election day.
