Border Bros: Trump and RFK, Jr. Sound a Lot Alike on Border Security

It's no wonder that President Biden is so paranoid of Robert F. Kennedy, Jr.'s presidential candidacy. RFK, Jr. is a far-left progressive who also shows some common sense when it is in the best interests of our country.

No, I'm not supporting Kennedy in November. I'll never vote for a Kennedy but this one is a little different and that deserves some attention. He's bat crap crazy on some topics - a strong bent toward anti-vaccine controversies, for example, and a penchant for gun control. However, he often sounds different in how he thinks about some important issues.

Take border security. Kennedy impressed me early on in his campaign when he showed up at the southern border in the middle of the night and filmed what was going on. He caught illegal aliens on video and described what he saw. That trip wasn't a one-off to check a box for his campaign. He has made the trip several times during his campaign.

Kennedy sounds a lot like Trump on securing the southern border. He supports many of Trump's previous initiatives and policies. It's refreshing to hear from a Democrat turned independent. Make no mistake, Kennedy is still a Democrat. He had to run as an independent candidate because Biden and the DNC forced Kennedy out of the Democrat primary. Biden's campaign is so insecure about his chances of winning re-election that it quickly eliminated any real competition during the primary process.

Kennedy can sound conservative at times and the best example is about the southern border. He spoke at the National Sheriffs’ Association’s annual convention this week. "I’m going to seal the border. It’s easily solvable.”

Like Trump, Kennedy supports border wall construction. He suggests hiring 2,600 additional border agents. He also supports 300 more immigration judges at the border.

Kennedy would bring back many Trump policies, like the Remain in Mexico policy. That was very successful during the Trump administration. It requires asylum-seekers who cross the southern border to wait in Mexico as their cases are processed in the United States. This policy was crucial in relieving the overcrowding in border communities that are ill-prepared to handle the burden of supporting large numbers of illegal aliens.

Kennedy made clear that the entire 2,200-mile border does not need a wall to deter illegal border crossings. The areas where illegals cross are important, though. “You need a fence, you need obstacles” in these areas, he said.

There are large portions of the border that are very unfriendly terrain. Even the most determined illegal alien can't scale those sections. A border wall in those spots would be impractical and unnecessary.

He is absolutely right about the need for more personnel along the border. Border Patrol has been overwhelmed since the Biden border crisis began. Biden deliberately refuses to provide the necessary personnel and resources to manage the flood of illegal aliens coming across the border.

Mr. Kennedy also addressed the challenges faced by the Border Patrol, noting the need to hire thousands more agents to replace those who have left during Mr. Biden’s tenure. He emphasized that increasing the number of immigration judges could reduce the lengthy waiting periods for hearings and asylum claims.

Don't get too excited that a prominent Democrat sees the light about border security. He sounds a lot like Trump but he supports more legal immigration to fill American job vacancies.

While advocating for stricter border controls, Mr. Kennedy also expressed support for legal immigration and the simplification of pathways to U.S. citizenship. He acknowledged the need for more workers in America and suggested that immigrants could help fill this gap.

Let's train and educate American citizens for jobs that are available first. It's too bad that Kennedy didn't qualify for tonight's debate. It would have been interesting to see the three on stage making their cases.
