Whoo Boy: There's a New Associate Communications Director at the White House

The White House communications office has a new associate communications director. He is a controversial choice because of his past posts on social media.

Tyler Cherry is being promoted from the Department of Interior where he worked as communications director for Interior Secretary Deb Haaland for three years. He is leading the climate communications in the Biden White House now.

He replaces Maria Michalos, who had the job for more than a year. She will step down later this month and will start law school in August.

Cherry is a controversial person in the Biden administration. That doesn't make him unique, there are many who conservatives consider controversial, but he is involved with communications. He crafts statements, now from the White House. Last year he caused controversy with social media posts.

He has a history of posts that criticize Republicans, attack police, and support the anti-Israel movement. It was bad enough that he was communications director for the Department of Interior when the social media posts created a kerfuffle. Now he has been brought into the White House. His bad behavior is being rewarded.

Cherry takes over as the top White House climate communications aide in a critical time for President Joe Biden’s administration. The Biden team is sprinting to roll out big-ticket environmental and climate priorities this year as the November presidential election looms and the administration aims to shore up its policies.

The White House gig involves handling communications for the White House Climate Policy Office, traveling with national climate adviser Ali Zaidi, and coordinating with the White House press office on climate and energy policy announcements.

Last year some social media posts surfaced. The posts blasted police and promoted "Russiagate."

"Praying for #Baltimore, but praying even harder for an end to a capitalistic police state motivated by explicit and implicit racial biases," Cherry posted in 2015 amid riots that were sparked following the death of Freddie Gray, a Black man, in police custody in Baltimore.

"Apt (sic.) time to recall that the modern day police system is a direct evolution of slave patrols and lynch mobs," he stated in a separate post months later.

In 2018 he called for Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) to be abolished. I guess illegal immigration and the crime coming across the open southern border don't bother him.

He celebrated bloodshed in Israel in a 2014 post. He applauded what he called the end of the "occupation of Palestine" amid that year's Gaza War. Palestinian forces, led by Hamas, launched hundreds of rockets into Israel. Israel responded with airstrikes and a ground invasion.

"Cheersing in bars to ending the occupation of Palestine — no shame and f--- your glares #ISupportGaza #FreePalestine," Cherry said on July 25, 2014, in a post on X, formerly known as Twitter.

Sorry, Israel. Just sit there and take it as Hamas kills Jews and others in Israel.

He slams Republicans, too. He described those in the Tea Party movement as racists. Because of course.

"The Tea Party was never about the debt/deficit but about racism and white grievance politics," he wrote on X.

He seems nice.

When Joe Biden ran for president, he did so, he said, to unite the country. He pretended to be a person who could work with both sides of the political aisle, though he didn't have a history of that in his very long political career. His four decades in the Senate were undistinguished and lacked any notable accomplishments. He was known as a plagiarizer and one of the Democrats who turned hearings for Supreme Court nominees into opportunities to personally destroy the nominee, not honestly review the nominee's record. And, Biden has his problems with racism.

Biden's White House hires are indicative of how Biden wants to govern. Unfortunately, Biden is not in control. He has people around him who are making decisions and running the White House. The communications team is important. Just look at the clown show White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre presents with each press briefing.

Conservatives reacted to Cherry's promotion.

I don't care that he's gay. I care about his social media posts that support destroying Israel and American organizations, like police departments and ICE. He's a far-left progressive who wishes to destroy the foundation of America.

This is a tweet from 2023:

It's time for sweeping change in the White House and government agencies. Vote accordingly in November.
