The fundraiser drew 450 Biden supporters to the event hosted by Clinton ally and former Virginia Governor Terry McAuliffe. It was a backyard event at his home in northern Virginia. It was reported to be the largest nonauditorium Biden fundraiser of the election cycle. It sold out in days. Campaign officials said it was "the highest-grossing backyard fundraiser in the history of the Democratic Party."

The fundraiser raised $8M. 

Hillary yammered on. She told the Biden supporters that is it hard for her to imagine anyone "could want to see that again. Sadly, there are many of our fellow Americans who seem willing to take that risk."

Bill Clinton was also introduced by McAuliffe and he spoke after Hillary. 

Joe Biden described the Clintons as dear friends and great Americans. He focused on a new topic he has been talking about at fundraisers lately - the Supreme Court. He said Trump, if elected, could appoint more justices to the Supreme Court. That isn't exactly going out on a limb, as any president may be responsible for that task during a term in office. The last time Biden tried to scare his audience about that was during the Hollywood fundraiser with celeb hosts George Clooney and Julia Robert, moderated by Jimmy Kimmel. Biden mistakenly said that Trump appointed two justices during his first term, but Trump appointed three. Oops.

It is a goal for Democrats to destroy the Supreme Court as we know it now and increase the number of justices so that more progressives will be appointed. The Court's majority was liberal for many years and Democrats are unable to accept the fact that the make-up of the Court has changed to a more conservative majority. Them's the breaks. One of the main reasons voters supported Trump in 2016 was out of concern for the Supreme Court, including me. Judicial appointments, including at the Supreme Court level, are top issues for many voters.

Biden and other Democrats bring in the Dobbs decision when talking about the Supreme Court. The second anniversary of that decision is next week. You can expect to hear about that a lot. Abortion is the main topic in Biden's re-election campaign. They have little else to talk about. 

Joe Biden went on to conflate D-Day with voting in November, as Hillary did on social media when the D-Day commemorations were happening in France. 

Biden also scrutinized Trump for his failure to pass the infrastructure law the president eventually enacted, Trump's tax reform, his "all-out assault" on the justice system, and his 2020 election challenges. Biden went on to claim his predecessor would make the economy, particularly consumer prices, "a hell of a lot worse," citing Trump's proposal to impose 10% tariffs on all imports.

“The threat Trump poses in a second term will be greater than his first term,” he said.

Reflecting on his trip this month to France to commemorate the 80th anniversary of D-Day, which put the United States on a path to victory in World War II, Biden reminded the crowd how those troops did their part for freedom and democracy and “now we’ve got to do ours."

Democrats are clueless. Infrastructure? That isn't on anyone's mind. Trashing Trump over his handling of the economy? Do you mean the best economy America has had in decades pre-pandemic, Joe? The tax cuts helped all Americans. A rising tide lifts all boats, Joe. Democrats are fond of waging class warfare and Joe Biden is one of the worst ones. Worst of all is the hypocrisy of the justice system. Joe Biden has weaponized the DOJ and the court system against his political opponents, specifically Donald Trump. Biden's America is looking more like a banana republic every day. 

The reason voters will "risk" voting for Trump again is because Joe Biden has been an epic failure of a president. Voters look back to Trump's term in office and remember life as much better than it is today. About 60% of Americans are living paycheck to paycheck. Biden's priorities are those of the far-left progressive wing of the Democrat Party, not those of Main Street America. 

Biden has failed so spectacularly as a president that many traditional Democrat voters are moving to Trump. Trump is making some traditionally blue states competitive. Look at Minnesota. Pollster Frank Luntz is gobsmacked that polling shows the state as very close. Trump lost Minnesota in 2016 and 2020. According to the Real Clear Politics aggregate, Biden is only up over Trump right now by 2.3%. 

“To me, it’s not that Donald Trump is winning so big in Iowa. That’s not the story. It’s that he’s making it close in Minnesota. Minnesota is a reliable Democratic state, it votes Democrat in every presidential campaign. In poll after poll, I see Trump within two or three points in Minnesota. I don’t think the media understands exactly what’s going on right now,” Luntz said.

Trump is gaining support from all demographics because he is talking to everyone across the country. He is going to places that Republican candidates usually write off. He held a big campaign rally in the Bronx. He went to Detroit and held events with black pastors, who welcomed him warmly. He is going to Philadephia. He speaks about the issues that matter to voters, not some lofty jibberish like "saving democracy." Trump reminds them of his accomplishments in office and how he will make their lives better again. He did it once, he can do it again. 

This presidential race is a unicorn. The two leading candidates are men who have held the office. Trump has a record in office. He can go issue by issue with Biden on a debate stage and show the contrast. All the claims that Trump will be a dictator or will go after critics or all the other crazy things being said to scare voters into staying with Biden can be countered with how he behaved in office during his first term. It is projection from Democrats. They accuse Republicans of doing what they are doing. Voters see it and that is why Trump is doing so well.
