DISGRACED. That is the acronym for legislation submitted by Rep. Bennie Thompson to strip former President Trump of his Secret Service protection if he goes to jail.
Thompson introduced the Denying Infinite Security and Government Resources Allocated toward Convicted and Extremely Dishonorable (DISGRACED) Former Protectees Act in the House.
To terminate United States Secret Service protection for felons.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled,
This Act may be cited as the “Denying Infinite Security and Government Resources Allocated toward Convicted and Extremely Dishonorable Former Protectees Act” or the “DISGRACED Former Protectees Act”.
SEC. 2. DENYING CERTAIN FELONS SECRET SERVICE PROTECTION.
Section 3056(a) of title 18, United States Code, is amended by striking “declined.” and inserting “declined. The protection authorized in paragraphs (1) through (8) shall terminate for any person upon sentencing following conviction for a Federal or State offense that is punishable for a term of imprisonment of at least one year.”
That isn't too obvious. Right. Democrats have been custom-making prosecutions against former President Trump since his first term. They impeached him twice. With the help of a Never Trump Republican, a decades-old alleged rape case was made against him. Then Democrats pursued lawfare against Trump to keep him out of the White House again. Until he declared his re-election campaign, Democrats did not act. As soon as he officially declared his candidacy for re-election, all bets were off. His first trial was held in Manhattan and the rest is history. He still faces trials in Washington, D.C., Miami, and Atlanta.
Democrats are very disappointed that it looks like the Manhattan trial will be the only one held before the election. Trump will still be tied up in court here and there as the process of the other trials continues but it is unlikely he will be sitting through a second trial before November 5.
The Trump haters are counting on the corrupt judge in Manhattan sentencing Trump to jail. During a press conference, the Mayor of New York City said that the city is prepared in case Trump is sentenced to Rikers Island.
That isn't enough, though. Some questions have to be answered if a former president, running for re-election, is sentenced to jail. What about his Secret Service detail? Do they go to prison, too?
In a statement to Fox News Digital, the agency said the outcome of the case "has no bearing on the manner in which the United States Secret Service carries out its protective mission."
"Our security measures will proceed unchanged," Anthony Guglielmi, chief of communications for the Secret Service, said.
Asked if Trump would be housed by himself or with the general population, a Department of Corrections spokesman said last month, "The Department would find appropriate housing for him if he winds up in our custody."
So, yes, his Secret Security detail follows him.
Enter Rep. Bennie Thompson (D-MS). You may remember him as the co-chair (with Liz Cheney) of Nancy Pelosi's J6 investigation and hearings that were television productions straight out of Hollywood. He wants Trump in prison without protection.
Rep. Bennie Thompson, D-Miss., the ranking Democrat on the House Homeland Security Committee, introduced the Denying Infinite Security and Government Resources Allocated toward Convicted and Extremely Dishonorable (DISGRACED) Former Protectees Act.
"Unfortunately, current law doesn’t anticipate how Secret Service protection would impact the felony prison sentence of a protectee — even a former President," Thompson said in a statement. "It is regrettable that it has come to this, but this previously unthought-of scenario could become our reality."
The Secret Service seems to have the situation under control, Bennie.
Lawyer and Professor Jonathan Turley posted a thread on X that pointed out what he described as "a race to the bottom" by the Democrats. Turley is a Democrat but has always opposed the show trial in Manhattan.
In the race to the bottom this week, Rep. Bennie Thompson, D-Miss., has pulled ahead. The ranking Democrat on the House Homeland Security Committee just introduced the Denying Infinite Security and Government Resources Allocated toward Convicted and Extremely Dishonorable…

...or CUCKOO (Congressmen Undertaking Changes to Kill Our Opponents). Describing this move as "regrettable," Thompson has found a way to add lethal elements to the unhinged political rage in Congress. https://t.co/UU00aGE5CA

Shameful and cuckoo sum up the Trump-deranged Democrats.
The Republican Governor of Mississippi, Tate Reeves, had something to say, too.
Bennie Thompson has crossed a line that is embarrassing for our state - and dangerous for our country.

His work to remove secret service protection from Donald Trump and leave him vulnerable (after a sham trial) begs the question….is it his goal to make it more likely that his… https://t.co/2kW7AUEfhp
Thompson will not apologize. He and his fellow travelers in the House have no moral compass when it comes to Trump. Everything they do is to help Biden win in November and maintain the power they have. They don't care if they have to shred the Constitution to pull him across the finish line. Fantasizing about Trump's death seems to be in play.
