George Conway Questions Why CNN Pays GOP Contributor "to Say Those Lies"

Townhall Media

George Conway looked like he was having a rough morning.

Conway was a guest on CNN this morning and he should have been giddy with excitement that former President Trump was found guilty of 34 felony charges. He's an OG Never Trump Republican who has thrown in with Democrats.

The ex-husband of Trump's 2016 campaign manager, Kellyanne Conway, does not seem to be doing well. Kellyanne was the first woman campaign manager in a presidential race to propel her candidate to win the election. George looked to be on board with the Trump presidency as his wife went to work in the Trump White House. But, he never got a job there and the word is he's still bitter about that. So, he changed teams, posted tons of anti-Trump posts on social media, and the next thing you know, he and Kellyanne are divorced.

Kellyanne has a gig as a Fox News contributor now. George is on CNN. Who do you think has a bigger audience? Yeah. No one watches CNN.

Today George went after Republican contributor Scott Jennings. The panel discussion was about the Trump trial convictions.

Conway was infuriated as Jennings argued that Trump's conviction has united the GOP and will "backfire" on the Democrats.

"Scott's lying and that's the problem with the Republican Party. It's continually addicted to lies. It's a lie," Conway told Jennings as his voice rose.

Jennings is right. Republicans are more united than ever right now.

Conway lost his mind. He held his head in his hands. He was overly emotional and called Jennings a liar. When Jennings asked Conway what he was lying about, Conway didn't have a specific answer, he just called Jennings a liar again.

"You're lying!" Conway yelled back. "You're lying, Scott. You're lying about the law! You're lying about what the jury was charged to find. They don't have an underlying crime. They had to find the intent to cover up an underlying crime.

There was no cover-up to be found, though. The prosecutor's main witness, convicted felon Michael Cohen, absolved Trump during his testimony, however inadvertently. Others did, too. Trump employed people to do his bookkeeping, he didn't do it himself. He was participating in a NDA. Yes, he was an unfaithful husband but that is not breaking news. Cohen paid Stormy Daniels to remain quiet, assuming Trump would reimburse him.

The trial was a big nothing. It kept Trump off the campaign trail, which is a goal for Democrats. Conway is a successful lawyer. He knows Trump's verdicts will be overturned during the appeals process.

Most importantly, Trump will be re-elected in November. It was looking that way before yesterday and now it is all but a done deal if everything remains the same as it is now.

Host Kasie Hunt had to jump in when Conway questioned why CNN employs Jennings.

"This is the problem with the Republican Party is that they are suffused with lies," he said. "I don't know why this network is paying Scott to say those lies."

"Whoa, whoa, OK, let's not go there, George," Hunt told Conway. "Scott is our colleague and we are going to treat him respectfully as such."

"This is ridiculous," Conway said.

What is ridiculous is the actions of Never Trumpers who realize the gravy train may be winding down for them. Americans don't like to see injustice play out before their eyes. Of course, the trial in Manhattan was rigged. The compromised judge did not allow the defense lawyers to make their full case. The judge slapped a gag order on Trump but no one else. The prosecutors brought in all kinds of evidence that had nothing to do with the case. It was a clown show we would expect from a banana republic.

The Democrats pushed a hoax about Russia, Russia, Russia, and Trump for four years. It was a hoax dreamed up and paid for by the Hillary Clinton campaign. Who are the liars?

Jennings is right. He made a comparison to the Kavanaugh confirmation time. Democrats found a willing stooge to try to hijack that confirmation. It failed spectacularly. Republicans were united as never before. The same thing is happening now. This Democrat overreach is handing the election to Trump.

Conway may want to pace himself. It's going to be a long six months for him. This sham of a trial will backfire.
