Trump is in a Manhattan courtroom this week as jury selection is underway for his first scheduled trial. This one is the case referred to as the hush money lawsuit. Trump has been ordered to be in court, under threat of arrest if he does not appear. This pulls Trump off the campaign trail, which is what Trump has been saying. Democrats don't think they can beat Trump at the ballot box so they are keeping him tied up with legal challenges.

Stephen A. Smith said that Democrats ought to focus on beating him on the campaign trail. 

“To my liberal friends out there, all you’re doing is showing that you’re scared you can’t beat him on the issues and the merits,” Smith said. “That’s why he keeps saying it’s a political campaign against me. That’s why he keeps saying they can’t beat me at the election, at the polls — this is the only way they can do it.”

Smith added that many voters see the extent to which “the other side” is willing to go to keep Trump out of the White House, and that “we’ll never have peace in this country” because of it.

“And they’re going to say, ‘Hey, you trumped us up against him again,’ and we’ll have no peace when all you gotta do is figure out a way to beat him on the issues,” Smith said. “But you haven’t been able to do it.”

Voters can see the press coverage of Trump's trials. Many voters tune it all out and don't pay attention as each of the four trials moves forward. There is the hush money trial, the classified documents trial in Florida, the January 6 riot trial in Washington, D.C., and the alleged election interference trial in Atlanta. 

Smith is not a fan of Biden running for re-election. Last year he said that the United States needs "a new president." He pointed to Biden's age as a problem. He also pointed to Democrat California Governor Gavin Newsom as a backup candidate. Newsom has run a shadow campaign that would enable him to jump in and run for president if asked. Newsom looks like a presidential candidate, he talks like a presidential candidate, and he acts like a presidential candidate. His ambition is clear. Smith said that switching out Biden for Newsom “makes sense if you are a flaming liberal” though he doesn't support it. 

Trump claims that it would be easy for him to beat Newsom because “California is a disaster.” 

Smith isn't the only one who is speaking out that Democrats are blowing it with Trump. Last month, director Michael Moore said that Trump is smarter than Democrats. He said a Trump win in the November general election is a "legitimate fear."

"We don't want to say this out loud, but I'm going to say it, and the reason we need to be concerned is that Trump is smarter than us," the 69-year-old said.

"I know, I know, you're calling the people to come find me, the guys in the white uniforms with the big net, and take me away. 'Are you crazy? What do you mean he's smarter than us?'"

Moore described the Republican politician as someone who has "been able to pull s*** off and get away with it" throughout his life, adding: "It is an amazing record."

Moore accurately predicted that Trump would beat Hillary in the 2016 election. 

Biden's handling of the Israel-Hamas war will drive voters from him in the November election, Moore said. He said it will keep younger voters from supporting him. Younger voters may not vote for Trump, he noted, but they could sit home and not vote at all. Polling shows that a majority of 18-34-year-olds do not approve of how Biden is handling the war. 

Moore was one of the 100,000 voters who voted "uncommitted" in the Michigan primary as a statement against Biden's support of Israel. He sprinkled in some Hamas propaganda in his criticism of Biden.

"In the first two, three years of the Biden administration, I told you 'not to worry, no matter what the polls are saying, you've got to have a little faith in the majority of your fellow Americans. Trump is not going to be let back into the White House,'" Moore said.

"I said that up until October, when the carpet bombing started with our planes and our bombs, and everything else, just this mass slaughter of a lot of innocent people."

 Carpet bombing? Really? What a useful idiot for the terrorists.

Democrats just don't learn. They are making the same mistakes they made in 2015-16. Hillary Clinton lost the election when she skipped campaigning in Wisconsin and called Trump supporters a basket of deplorables. She did not take seriously the mistake of insulting half of the American electorate. 

Katie Couric had a deplorables moment during Bill Maher's podcast on Sunday. She insulted Trump voters as not intelligent and consumed with resentment toward those who are financially successful. Class warfare is never a good look, especially for a public figure who dwells in an elite bubble. She is not exactly a woman of the people. 

Democrats are misreading this election. That's fine with me. Let them insult voters and drive them to vote for Trump. Independents are shifting back to Trump because of tone-deaf and out-of-touch Democrats. 

This election is about who can best lead the country out of this mess that Team Biden has created. The economy, immigration, law and order, and national security are the top issues with voters this cycle. Biden is underwater in all those categories. Trump is strong with those issues. That is why he visited a bodega after sitting in a courtroom all day Tuesday. He was spotlighting crime in New York and the problems of small business owners in the city. 

Trump should continue to make short stops in ordinary places that are relatable to everyday people after he gets out of court, as often as possible. It's a winning strategy for Trump's campaign. Biden is in a cocoon. He looks fragile and feeble. Trump's an alpha male and that is what the country needs after the destruction brought on by Biden's time in office.
