Jill Biden made a speech at a fundraiser in Houston Saturday night. She slammed Trump for trying to make her husband look bad. She also was angry that Trump does not like the Senate Democrats border bill.
Jill Biden is married to a man who has been in elected office for 50 years. She’s no spring chicken herself at the age of 72. Can you believe how silly she must sound as she says a man running against her husband, the president, to be the leader of the free world, is trying to make his opponent look bad? Good Lord. Anything less is political malpractice in election season. As far as that border bill secretly being drawn up in the Senate, Trump is right to advise Republicans that no bill is better than a bad bill. The Senate bill must be a real stinker because the text is being kept secret.
‘You see what happened today with the border, and now Trump is trying to do everything he can to make Joe look bad, you know, even at the lives — sacrificing lives of so many people just for his own political gain,’ she told donors to her husband’s re-election campaign.
‘I know it’s early to start, but I want you to sort of think after you leave tonight that yes, I am committed to a democracy. And yes, I’m going to fight as hard as I can and not let anything like 2016 happen again.’
Wait. What? What happened in 2016? We had a free and fair election. Donald Trump soundly beat Hillary Clinton, much to her surprise and to the surprise of voters everywhere. Jill doesn’t want Trump to beat Joe in November. Democrats are very nervous because Joe Biden’s approval numbers are historically low, second only to Jimmy Carter at this point in the third year of his term as president. Jill Biden is sounding a little election denier-ish, if you ask me. We know Hillary Clinton is an election denier. Et tu, Jill?
The campaign playbook for Team Biden is to use the themes of fear and abortion in stump speeches and for fundraising purposes. Team Biden will try to convince voters that only Joe Biden can maintain American democracy. It’s the same pitch he made in 2020 against Donald Trump. Since then, Biden has done the opposite. He embraced his inner authoritarian as soon as he was inaugurated. He kept the country locked down during the pandemic, including letting the teacher unions decide when schools should re-open. He didn’t listen to military advisers and experts when he rushed to withdraw from Afghanistan and thirteen Americans were killed in a terror attack at the Kabul airport. Joe Biden is defying a Supreme Court ruling and continues to release taxpayer money to forgive student loans. He is derelict in his duty to secure the southern border and protect the homeland. He’s been weak on the foreign stage and he leads from behind. It doesn’t take Donald Trump to make Joe Biden look bad. He does that all on his own.
It turns out we may have Jill Biden to blame for the Biden border catastrophe.
Biden’s border policy has been particularly influenced by the first lady, his advisors told the Wall Street Journal, because of her reaction to the Trump administration’s policy of family separations and his ‘Remain in Mexico’ program.
During the 2020 campaign, Jill Biden visited a tent camp of migrants living just across the southern border in Matamoros, Mexico.
President Biden has embraced the border deal because Senate Republicans have tied it to aid for Ukraine, another priority for the Biden administration, but also because it solves a political hot potato as he campaigns for a second term.
Jill Biden apparently wants the flood of illegal immigrants to remain in Texas, not Mexico. I will remind you she was fundraising in Houston as she trashed Trump over border policy. That’s pretty ballsy.
Democrats are trying to turn Texas blue in this election year… again. They are not exactly sending their best and brightest to get the job done. Maybe they have no best and brightest to send to Texas. They have campaign donations from George Soros. We’ll see if his money does better than it has in previous election cycles.
Do better, Jill. Surely a woman who teaches English at a community college can come up with better speeches than that.
