Another Migrant Plane Arrives in Chicago Area - Mayor Is Scorched for His Response

There have been 302,000 illegal immigrant encounters since December 1, 2023 at the southern border. It is an all-time record for illegal immigration in the United States. That is just the ones that CBP knows about.

While Joe Biden was busy taking holiday vacations to Cape Cod and Camp David and St. Croix, Texas Governor Greg Abbott has been moving illegal immigrants out of Texas and into sanctuary cities. Governor Abbott pledged to continue bussing illegal aliens, as well as flying them to sanctuary cities until Joe Biden comes up with a plan to secure the southern border and put that plan into action. Seems fair, right?

Sanctuary city Mayor Brandon Johnson of Chicago doesn’t think it is so fair. He is particularly upset that Abbott has begun to fly the illegals into Chicago and then bus them into surrounding areas. Johnson slammed Abbott for the first plane sent earlier in December so Abbott sent another one that landed in Chicago on Sunday. Johnson went on a Sunday morning political show and cried foul.

Did Johnson call illegal immigrants “seeds of chaos?” Yes, he did. That may be worse than Jill Biden calling Hispanics in Texas “breakfast tacos.” There hasn’t been any pushback, though, because he’s a black Democrat mayor and he is playing victim to the mean Republican governor in Texas.

People blasted Johnson on social media for his whining. What these sanctuary city mayors, like Johnson, don’t understand is that Americans are aware of the Biden border crisis now and are fed up with the theatrics. They know that sanctuary cities encouraged the influx of those coming here illegally. The sanctuary city mayors virtue-signaled that they welcome anyone, regardless of legal status. Governor Abbott took them at their word. Johnson was quickly torched on social media.

Exactly. It was all fun and games as long as all the illegal border crossers remained in Texas. Once sanctuary cities began being used as sanctuary cities, it became another matter for the mayors. Hypocrites, all.

Johnson got a little help on social media from Democrat Chicago Alderman Byron Sigcho-Lopez. Cue the little violins.

He received the same reaction that Johnson received.

Right, again. People voting for these Democrats voted for what happens in sanctuary cities. There is no sympathy here for them. No one thought it would go beyond the sanctimonious lecturing by blue city mayors about illegal immigration. They are getting what they asked for.

The latest plane filled with illegal aliens flew 355 people to Chicago. It landed at Chicago Rockford International Airport at 1 a.m. When the plane landed, they were put on buses waiting for them and taken to Chicago.

They were taken to Chicago’s “landing zone,” a Facebook post said, but Rockford officials did not share an exact address. A city spokesperson declined to answer specific questions about the flight, including who chartered it and where in Texas it originated.

In a statement, the city of Chicago said a private Boeing 777 from San Antonio, coordinated by Eastern Airlines, landed in Rockford carrying 350 people seeking asylum.

After landing, the passengers were put on eight buses chartered by Texas Gov. Greg Abbott, according to a city of Chicago spokesperson. The buses dropped the migrants in the surrounding suburbs, and they are now making their way to Chicago via trains and other means, the spokesperson said.

The plane came from San Antonio. The buses took them to surrounding suburbs where they then took trains and other means of transportation into Chicago. The plane landed in Rockford because of the new ordinance Johnson signed to handle migrant buses. Mayor Johnson has impounded buses and issued citations in hopes of discouraging the buses from coming. Apparently, Governor Abbott is going around that by landing the planes outside the city. There were 120 people on the first migrant plane that arrived in the Chicago area. Abbott is escalating and that is a good thing, if you ask me. Abbott should send more buses and planes to Chicago and the other cities currently being used in his program to transport illegals out of Texas. The illegal aliens choose which city they want to go to and they receive free transportation courtesy of Texas taxpayers.

Some counties in the area have begun preparing for the potential arrival of these buses and planes.

A McHenry County spokesperson in a statement on Friday said the county would facilitate the transportation of migrants who arrive there to Chicago.

“While there is no advance notice as to when and where asylum-seekers may arrive, McHenry County representatives and Emergency Management have been in regular communication with municipal mayors, managers and law enforcement to discuss the coordination of responses,” the spokesperson said.

Johnson wants advance notice and expects to accept migrant buses only during specific business hours. Illegal immigrants don’t operate only in business hours, though, and they don’t cross the border only between the hours of 9-5. Does Johnson think Texas gets advanced warnings of the floods of illegal immigrants crossing the border?

The Chicago mayor appeared with Denver Mayor Johnston on Sunday’s Face the Nation. When asked about the death of a five-year-old child in a Chicago area migrant shelter, Johnson blamed Governor Abbott. Because, of course, he did.

“Now [Abbott] has taken on this very dangerous task of placing individuals on airplanes and flying them into our various cities,” Johnson said. “This is certainly a matter of not just our national security, but it’s the type of chaos that this governor is committed to administering.”

When asked about the death of Jean Carlos Martinez Rivero, the 5-year-old boy who recently died in a Pilsen shelter, Johnson criticized the Texas governor for not providing health screenings and vaccinations at the U.S.-Mexico border.

Is Governor Abbott responsible for health screenings and vaccinations for illegals? I don’t think so. He is being stopped from doing what he can to protect the Texas border while being sued by the DOJ at every turn. If illegal immigration is a federal responsibility – and it is – then a governor isn’t responsible for health screenings and vaccinations. Mayor Johnson isn’t the sharpest tool in the shed. He can’t have it both ways. He should just buckle up. Abbott isn’t stopping any time soon.
