Chicago Mayor Impounds Buses From Texas, Citations Issued

Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson is trying to manage the chaos created by the arrival of illegal aliens to his sanctuary city. One solution he is implementing is to impound buses coming from Texas and issue citations.

Let’s be honest – Mayor Johnson is not the sharpest tool in the shed. He has been in office for seven months and he has yet to accomplish anything of noteworthiness. He’s good at getting before a camera, though, and trashing Texas Governor Abbott for taking Chicago up on its claim of being a sanctuary city. Texas as an overabundance of illegal aliens, thanks to the Biden border crisis, and everything was fine as long as Texas was going it alone and dealing with the illegal border crossers. However, once Governor Abbott began using migrant buses as a part of Operation Lone Star, the border security initiative he implemented in March 2021 when it became apparent the Biden border crisis is deliberate, suddenly sanctuary cities began crying foul. The hypocrisy has been exposed. Mayors of big blue cities talk the talk but didn’t expect to have to walk the walk. Virtue-signaling is easy if it is only sanctimonious words that do not require action to back them up.

Johnson, like every other politician who has asked the Biden administration for assistance in dealing with Biden’s deliberate creation of the humanitarian crisis and the national security crisis on the southern border, has been ignored. His pleas for help fall on deaf ears in Washington, D.C. because they are fine with an open border. Democrats have visions of future voters dancing in their heads.

As he promised, Governor Abbott continues to send buses of illegal aliens to Chicago. He also began flying them to Chicago. There has been no holiday break. With the numbers of illegal border crossers continuing to increase, not decrease, along the southern border, there can be no break in moving them on to other states. The buses are arriving in Chicago suburbs.

Elmhurst police said two busloads of migrants were dropped off last weekend and someone bought the passengers Metra tickets bound for Chicago.

Planeload of migrants sent to O’Hare Airport by Texas emergency management officials
While attending a Kwanzaa celebration on Tuesday, Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson lashed out at Texas Governor Greg Abbott, the architect of the busing program.

“He sent a plane to the City of Chicago, which is some real grave concern and now he’s literally dropping off individuals alongside the road,” Johnson said. “His irresponsible, very raggedy, reckless approach is not going to prevent us as a city to come up with some structure and some order and some calm.”

On Tuesday morning, the city reported 14,525 new arrivals being housed in shelters, with 309 people awaiting placement. Six of them remain at police stations and 303 remain at O’Hare International Airport.

“Despite the behavior of the governor of Texas, I have a responsibility as mayor of the City of Chicago to continue to organize people,” Johnson said.

Is that the sound of tiny violins I hear in the background? There is nothing “raggedy” and “reckless” in Abbott’s approach. The illegal aliens who are looking for a way to travel to wherever they hope is their final destination receive free transportation to a choice of six cities – New York City, Chicago, Washington, D.C., Philadelphia, Los Angeles, and Denver. They are provided with clothing, food, water, and other basic supplies. The buses are chartered using Texas taxpayer money.

Last month Chicago implemented new rules. Buses must arrive during business hours in designated areas Monday through Friday. Two buses have been impounded so far. There have been 110 citations issued. “Yes, we had to impound a couple of busses thus far. The whole impetus behind this, as you know, is to create some calm and some structure around this operation,” Mayor Johnson said.

Good luck with that, Mayor Johnson. Illegal immigration is not a 9-5 occurrence that happens during regular business hours. Johnson is not a serious person with actions like this.
