Can someone wake Joe Biden up? Who is in charge at the White House these days? The staff think they are in charge.
White House staff and appointees held a vigil in front of the White House on Wednesday. They demanded a permanent ceasefire in the Israel-Hamas war. Perhaps people think that is no big deal, vigils and protests over the Israel-Hamas war happen every day. This one was different. It is not normal for White House staff and appointees to arrogantly think they are the ones who make policy, not the president and his cabinet. Something is very wrong in the Biden White House.
First, there was the bag of cocaine that was found in a cubbie and the Secret Service covered up the story. We still do not know how it happened or who brought it in. Just move along, everything is fine. Then there was the story about a group of interns who sent a letter demanding a ceasefire in the Israel-Hamas war to Biden. Interns. Twenty-somethings so full of themselves that they thought it was a good idea to make such a demand of the leader of the free world. Deep down they had to know how out-of-line they were because none of them signed their names.
The news that a vigil was being held outside the White House by staff and appointees must seem like a natural progression to some. It’s not. It is further proof that all levels of those employed at the White House are running their shows.
About three dozen staff and appointees attended the early evening vigil. The cowards wore sunglasses and masks to conceal their identities. These people must have understood that they were doing the wrong thing or else they wouldn’t have hidden behind masks and sunglasses. The organizer seems to have been Josh Paul. He is a former State Department official who resigned from his job in October. He disagreed with how the administration was handling the Israel-Hamas war, so he left. That is how such a situation should be handled. Don’t like what your boss is doing or object to company policies? Resign and go elsewhere. That is what is done in the real world.
Josh Paul delivered opening remarks. A former administration staffer read a statement given to him by a group of Palestinian administration officials who sought to remain anonymous. For all their aspirations to be the ones calling the shots, these folks demanding a permanent ceasefire right now sure are shy.
The group that organized the vigil called the violence that is happening in Gaza “unacceptable.” That “violence” is war and the war was started by Hamas, not Israel. The “violence” is Israel defending herself, which she is entitled to and must do to survive.
“The US government’s decision to double down on fueling the violence has put our objectives … around the globe in jeopardy for us to achieve any movement on some of the most intractable issues we face today,” read the former administration official.
“The temporary ceasefire ended 13 days ago, and we have been horrified to see the full resumption of killings, displacement and bombardment of Palestinian civilians in Gaza. A temporary pause to this violence was never enough. We must move with urgency to save as many lives as possible and achieve an immediate, permanent ceasefire agreement and the return of all hostages,” according to prepared remarks Paul made at the vigil on behalf of the group.
He also said: “The American people and respected institutions like the United Nations are pleading for a ceasefire, but this administration has yet to listen. We demand President Biden and members of the Cabinet to speak up: Call for a permanent ceasefire, a release of all hostages and an immediate de-escalation now.”
But wait, there’s more. Paul also said, “The American people and respected institutions like the United Nations are pleading for a ceasefire, but this administration has yet to listen. We demand President Biden and members of the Cabinet to speak up: Call for a permanent ceasefire, a release of all hostages and an immediate de-escalation now.”
It is nothing new for the United Nations to call for an action that only hurts Israel and the Israeli people. The United Nations is filled with antisemites. A permanent ceasefire at this point would be the end of Israel’s security. Hamas is not to be trusted. There was a ceasefire in place when Hamas entered Israel and slaughtered 1200 Israelis and others and took hostages. Hamas massacred young people at a music festival. Americans were killed. There is no justification for anything but a full-on defense of Israel.
Last month more than 700 staff and appointees signed a letter in support of a ceasefire. The staffers work in more than 30 departments and agencies. Those included EPA, FBI, and NASA.
“We call on President Biden to urgently demand a ceasefire and to call for de-escalation of the current conflict by securing the immediate release of the Israeli hostages and arbitrarily detained Palestinians; the restoration of water, fuel, electricity, and other basic services; and the passage of adequate humanitarian aid to the Gaza strip,” the letter stated.
People who sign on to those kinds of statements don’t seem to understand that before October 7, many Gazans were living without basic services, including water, electricity, and fuel because of Hamas. Or, they willfully ignore the reality. Hamas is in control of Gaza. For years, Hamas has hijacked all humanitarian aid and spent money on missiles and bombs, not infrastructure in Gaza, like pipelines. Gaza was already a tough place to live for many Gazans. Instead of infrastructure, Hamas built tunnels.
Last month Congressional staffers held a vigil in front of the U.S. Capitol.
Joe Biden has to get control of his White House. Rot happens from the head down. He probably isn’t fully aware of what is going on in his administration on any given day, due to his mental acuity but those around him should not support or tolerate such behavior from staff and political appointees. The president was elected to make these decisions. The problem is that Biden is cowed by the far-left. Muslim American voters in Michigan, for example, has pledged to not support Biden in 2024 because of his handling of the Israel-Hamas war.
Biden is going wobbly on Israel. He and his administration talk about a two-state solution that does not exist. It certainly does not exist after October 7. The only solution for Israel is to destroy Hamas. Anything short of that guarantees danger for Israel’s very existence. Biden needs to get his White House under control.
