Democrat Governor Toured the Border As She Demands Federal Aid from Biden

Arizona Governor Katie Hobbs, a Democrat, has largely been silent about the Biden border crisis in recent weeks. That changed as her state is currently seeing record numbers of illegal immigrants flood in.

The epicenter of illegal immigration is in Lukeville, Arizona. The situation has gotten so bad that the legal port of entry there was closed a week ago. Governor Hobbs is demanding help from the federal government. She is considering sending the Arizona National Guard. Sending the National Guard should be a no-brainer. It seems like that should have been done when a busy port of entry was closed.

Lukeville is one of the busiest ports of entry in the busiest sector in Arizona. Travelers going between the two countries now will have to travel about two hours in either direction to go back and forth between Arizona and Mexico.

“This week I sent a letter to President Biden demanding the resources and manpower to open this port of entry, and we announced Operation Secure to step up state support for local law enforcement,” Hobbs said.

She called the situation chaos. She taped a video in front of the border wall in Lukeville. She posted it on social media with a plea to the federal government to reopen the Lukeville port of entry along with her request that the state be reimbursed for the costs incurred in dealing with illegal immigration.

That’s all fine but what took her so long? Arizona has dealt with the Biden border crisis all along, going back to former Gov. Ducey, a Republican who worked with Texas Governor Abbott. Hobbs should follow Abbott’s lead. It sounds like she may be beginning to do that with her mention of “Operation Secure” that she is starting. Abbott began his initiative, Operation Lone Star, in March 2021. Again, what took so long? Now that it is national news from Lukeville, she acts.

Single adult men, most of military service age, from around the world are flooding the border at Lukeville. What could go wrong?

Senator Kyrsten Sinema is speaking out and she called the shutdown a disaster.

“Lukeville has been shut down by DHS to be used as a short-term processing center, but as we’re seeing from these videos and images, even that is not enough. The reality is the federal government is not responding to this crisis in an effective manner,” Sinema said.

The numbers seen at the southern border last week set records.

Migrant encounters at the southern border hit the highest total for a single day ever recorded on Tuesday, marking yet another record broken as part of the ongoing migrant crisis which has hammered cities at both the border and across the country.

Multiple Customs and Border Protection (CBP) sources told Fox News that there were over 12,000 migrant encounters on Tuesday. Over 10,200 of those were Border Patrol encounters of illegal immigrants coming between ports of entry.

That Border Patrol number is among the highest number of encounters ever recorded for the agency by itself but breaks a record when combined with the encounters by CBP’s Office of Field Operations at ports of entry.

As of Wednesday, CBP had over 22,000 illegal aliens in custody. Other major Border Patrol sectors are over capacity.

The situation is bad enough in Arizona that stories on the crisis show up now on legacy media. Legacy media has covered for Joe Biden on this issue but now it can’t be overlooked. Fox News is the only cable network that covers the border crisis every day. The problem isn’t getting any better. As long as Joe Biden is in office, this will continue.

Good luck to Governor Hobbs in getting more help from the Biden administration. I think she will find that Biden ignores everyone over the southern border, Democrats and Republicans alike. It doesn’t matter if it is Governor Abbott or NYC Mayor Adams. No one is getting any help.
