Mayorkas: Border Security Measures Equal 'Violence to Our Fundamental Values'

The highest number of illegal immigrants in a single day crossed onto U.S. soil on Tuesday. More than 12,000 crossed the border that day.

In an interview Wednesday, DHS Secretary Mayorkas claimed that the border security measures congressional Republicans want to put into a foreign aid bill are “violence to our fundamental values.” What are these security measures that are so offensive to the man who lies that the southern border is closed and secured? They are “building a border wall, increasing the number of Border Patrol agents, limiting asylum, and narrowing Biden’s power to parole illegal immigrants.”

Talk about bad timing. Americans are fed up with the Biden border crisis. Sanctuary cities don’t want to act like sanctuary cities. Fentanyl is flooding into the United States and killing Americans thanks to drug cartels controlling portions of the Mexican border. Border landowners are overwhelmed by illegal immigrants destroying property and agriculture. Crops are contaminated. Immigration is not normally a top issue for voters but it will be in 2024. Some Democrats, mostly in districts that went to Trump in 2020, are demanding the border be secured like Republicans have been doing since Biden came into office. Three years into Biden’s administration the situation is completely out of control.

Tuesday was a bad day on our southern border.

Multiple Customs and Border Protection (CBP) sources told Fox News that there were over 12,000 migrant encounters on Tuesday. Over 10,200 of those were Border Patrol encounters of illegal immigrants coming between ports of entry.

That Border Patrol number is among the highest number of encounters ever recorded for the agency by itself but breaks a record when combined with the encounters by CBP’s Office of Field Operations at ports of entry.

As of Wednesday morning, the agency has over 22,000 migrants in custody, with several major Border Patrol sectors running heavily over capacity, sources said.

It is hard to wrap your head around these numbers. In Fiscal Year 2023, a new record was reached with 2.4 million illegal immigrant encounters reported by CBP. September was the highest monthly total ever recorded. That month there were 260,000 border encounters. There was a slight dip in October when the total number of encounters was reported to be 240,000. That was a record number for October.

The numbers have gotten so crazy during the Biden administration that I would think they are being made up but I know that isn’t true. I frequently write about the Biden border crisis because it is both a humanitarian crisis and a national security crisis. It may not be a tantalizing topic but the story has to remain out in front. Our country’s sovereignty is fading away.

The current area under siege by illegal immigrants is Lukeville, Arizona. I wrote about it yesterday as FNC reporter Bill Melugin reported from there. All day long he watched human traffickers guide illegal immigrants across the border. They walked through portions of the border wall that were being repaired. They come with impunity. They know they will be able to stay. The illegals admit that they are coming for jobs and that is not a reason for asylum under current immigration law.

The Del Rio Sector, where Eagle Pass is located, is a hot spot in Texas. The problem continues to increase. Yet, when Republicans try to force the administration to do its job, Mayorkas arrogantly lectures about American values. He called America a land of refugees but these immigrants are not refugees. They come seeking jobs and opportunities. Republicans want restrictions on asylum and parole claims. The Biden administration does not enforce the laws on the books as it is. Joe Biden talks about the immigration reform bill that he sent to Congress early in his term. He likes to blame Republicans for not working with Democrats to pass the bill. What he doesn’t say is that the bill focuses on blanket amnesty for those here illegally as a “reform” and Republicans won’t go along with that. Why reward illegal behavior? It encourages more of the problem.

Mayorkas claims that Biden has “addressed” the problem of illegal immigration. What would the Biden border crisis look like if he hadn’t addressed the problem? I’d be interested to know how he has addressed it. He continues to turn his back on the problem. He refuses requests from border states and sanctuary cities for more federal aid and resources. There is not enough personnel on the border. Border Patrol agents are being pulled off doing their jobs and instead are assigned to help process the illegal immigrants.

Mayorkas and Biden and everyone else who says the border is secure and closed are lying to Americans. They got away with it for a while because the media (except Fox News) was not covering the Biden border crisis. Now that the problem is so horrible and out of control, the media has been forced to report on it. It is no longer possible for anyone to ignore it.

Voters won’t ignore the crisis when it comes time to vote. They will remember the lies from the administration.
