Graham Advises Abbott to Send 'Thousands of Illegal Immigrants' to Ten States

Nine senators signed on to a letter from Chairman of the Senate Judiciary Subcommittee on Immigration, Citizenship and Border Security Alex Padilla (D-CA). He posted it on X (formerly Twitter) Wednesday morning. They do not support the inclusion of border security measures in aid packages for Ukraine, Israel, Gaza, and the Indo-Pacific region.

In response to a demand by Republicans in the Senate and in the House that border security needs to be put into other aid packages going forward, some Democrats are bucking the idea. So, Senator Lindsey Graham (R-SC) offered a suggestion to Texas Governor Abbott on Sean Hannity’s show on FNC Wednesday night. Stop sending illegal aliens to specific sanctuary cities. Send them to the states that those senators represent. Send thousands of them to those states, Governor Abbott.

“Gov. Abbott, if you’re watching Sean Hannity tonight, do me a favor,” Graham said during an appearance on Hannity on Wednesday. “Make it real to those 10 senators and their states what you’ve been dealing with in Texas. Instead of sending them all to New York, why don’t you look at the states in question?”

“The Democratic position is: remain in Texas. They are OK with Texas being overrun,” he continued. “Gov. Abbott, send busloads of illegal immigrants to these senators so they will understand what it’s like to live with a broken border.”

It was all fun and games for Democrats who are far removed from the southern border as long as the illegal aliens were all remaining in Texas. Let Texas deal with it has been the mantra from this administration all along. The situation has become ridiculously unsustainable for Texas, though, because of the historically high number of illegal border crossers. Texas doesn’t have the resources that the federal government has. Since Texas runs out of shelter space for illegal aliens, often having to put them out into the streets, the governor began to bus them to sanctuary cities.

Sanctuary cities, usually blue cities, brag about having open arms for any who come to their cities, regardless of legal status. Why not take them up on their generous hospitality, right? They want illegal aliens in their cities and Texas has a lot of them. The illegal aliens choose which city they want to go to and Abbott puts them on a bus to that destination. He charters the buses, courtesy of Texas taxpayers, provides food and water for the road trip, and sends them on their merry way.

If Democrats want to go on the record for not supporting measures to secure the border at the same time that other countries receive American funds, let them experience what Texas (and Arizona) experience every day, every week.

The senators who signed on to Padilla’s letter are Sens. Dick Durbin (D-IL), Cory Booker (D-NJ), Mazie Hirono (D-HI), Ben Ray Lujan (D-NM), Ed Markey (D-MA), Bob Menendez (D-NJ), Jeff Merkley (D-OR), Elizabeth Warren (D-MA), and Sheldon Whitehouse (D-RI). Durbin should be paying attention to the suggestion from Senator Graham because Chicago is already on Abbott’s list of sanctuary cities and regularly receives buses of illegal aliens from Texas.

The demand from Republicans that border security be addressed is a contentious one but it is the government’s top job. Immigration is a federal issue. Securing America’s borders is a federal issue. Biden’s DOJ tells Governor Abbott that every time it takes him to court over trying to do what Texas can to secure the border. Biden won’t provide personnel and resources to secure the border, yet it will not support Texas doing it, either.

It doesn’t have to be this way. Biden’s America doesn’t have to look like a third-world country.

Abbott has said all along that he will continue the buses until the border is secured.

Legal immigration mixed with illegal immigration adds up.

Immigrants now make up 15% of the U.S. population, the highest share in history, breaking records established more than a century ago, according to a report.

The Center for Immigration Studies, citing Census Bureau statistics, says 49.5 million immigrants — both legal and illegal — are residing in the country.

The number is rapidly rising, with a net of 4.5 million immigrants settling since January 2021, when President Biden took office. That is equivalent to the entire population of Oregon or Oklahoma in just 34 months.

A million here, a million there, next thing you know, you have 15% of the population in the immigrant category. Legal and illegal. Joe Biden is trying to normalize illegal immigration and it’s not sustainable.
