Inquiring minds want to know who decorated the White House better – Melania Trump or Jill Biden. Seriously. Jill Biden previewed this year’s Christmas theme and decorations at the White House and the media immediately reached back to Melania Trump’s White House decorations to make a comparison.
Aren’t there enough issues for the media to busy themselves with these days? The world is on fire, Joe Biden’s polling numbers are in the basement where he hopes to campaign from, and the administration is filled with diversity hires who aren’t capable of doing their jobs, including the vice president. Hamas is winning the propaganda war. Antisemitic progressives have cowed Joe Biden and he’s gone wobbly in his support of Israel. He chooses to pander to Muslim voters rather than to stand firm and let Israel fight its war against Hamas without interference from Team Biden. The CIA director is in Qatar trying to broker a big hostage release by calling for a big ceasefire. 60% of Americans are living paycheck to paycheck. The southern border is wide open and more names on the terror watch list are popping up than ever before.
Never mind all that. Let’s drag Melania Trump over her choice of Christmas decorations from three years ago.
I ponder why this is on the media’s agenda. Is it because Trump is running for the presidency? Is it because Melania has had a little press recently? She attended Rosalynn Carter’s memorial service on Tuesday and she was criticized for wearing a gray coat over a black dress. Her critics said she should have been in all black. I saw her attire. She looked as she always does – perfectly dressed and that is why she is attacked. Haters are gonna hate. The Carter family said that Melania was gracious to them and spoke warmly of Rosalynn to them Tuesday. Melania is a class act and that irritates the Trump deranged Democrats all the more.
When pictures of the 2023 White House Christmas decorations surfaced, I admit I wasn’t impressed.
First Lady Jill Biden unveiled the theme of this year's White House holiday makeover as the “Magic, Wonder, and Joy of the holidays” on Nov. 27.

There is a fine line between the proper amount of over-the-top Christmas decorations and clumsy excess. I think Jill Biden’s decorations are clumsy. YMMV.

It was that big Christmas tree seen in that post that turned me off. My first reaction was to cringe. I don’t like its look on that pedestal. The post was a shot at Melania.

Yes, there is a stark contrast but, so what? Jill Biden and Melania Trump are two very different first ladies. I thought our progressive betters were so sophisticated. Shouldn’t they have appreciated a more European touch in decorating? They would have loved Melania’s choices if her last name was not Trump or that of another Republican.
It’s petty and nonsensical. I expect nothing less from today’s press coverage. Melania has not lived in the White House for three years. It’s time to move on.
What got a lot of attention is that Jill Biden didn’t put up the Christmas stockings for the Biden grandchildren and pets. It looks like rather than putting up a stocking for little Navy Joan, their seventh grandchild that they finally acknowledged this year when they were forced to because of Hunter’s legal battle over child support, none of the stockings are up on the mantle. Joe and Jill Biden are not good people. They are nasty, selfish people. The lies about Joe being Mr. Empathy and a kindly old grandpa are just that – lies. Jill is pulling a lot of strings and she’s all about power. The phony baloney family fairy tale narrative is coming to an end.
The best White House Christmas move was the BarneyCam during the George W. Bush administration. Strapping a camera on Barney, the Scottish Terrier, and letting him run wild, now that was entertainment.
One thing happened Tuesday that perfectly summed up the Biden presidency. The White House National Christmas Tree toppled to the ground during a strong wind gust. Conservatives enjoyed poking fun at such an ideal metaphor for the Biden presidency.
The White House’s National Christmas Tree, a towering 40-foot Norway spruce, toppled to the ground on Tuesday afternoon, with conservative commentators quick to point out the irony of the situation.
“National Christmas tree falls,” the Republican House Committee on the Judiciary wrote in an X post. “Perfectly summing up Joe Biden’s presidency.”

The House Judiciary Committee is involved in investigating potential impeachment proceedings against Biden, along with the House Oversight Committee.
The tree, originally from West Virginia, fell over at about 1:00 p.m. during a strong wind gust. By 6:00 p.m., the tree was back up. Good thing. The lighting ceremony is scheduled for Thursday.
This isn’t the first time the National Christmas Tree fell. It also happened in 2011 during a severe wind storm. That storm cut power and sparked about a dozen fires. 2011, eh? Bumbling Joe was vice president back then during Obama’s first term. Here we are in Obama’s third term and it happened again. Joe and Jill were away from the White House at the time the tree toppled Tuesday. They were in Georgia for Rosalynn Carter’s memorial service.
