This is a win for Georgia Governor Brian Kemp, a Republican, and the voters in Georgia. The state passed election law reform to maintain the integrity of its elections. Leftists and other social justice warriors took to their fainting couches and accused the Georgia State Legislature of voter suppression.

Some people in the Major League Baseball (MLB) community objected to a focus on election integrity. They didn’t seem to be fans of putting in place rules to support free and fair elections. Back in 2021, the MLB powers-that-be succumbed to pressure from major corporations that jumped on the woke bandwagon to spread the trope that election integrity reforms are voter suppression. Major corporations had not weighed in on state voting laws in the past but 2021 was a year when Joe Biden and his fellow travelers on the left placed dividing the country to score political points at a premium. The All-Star Game was moved in a political protest out of Atlanta. It was moved to Colorado, which ironically, offered fewer accommodations to voters than Georgia.

It was never really about voter integrity laws. It was an opportunity for political activists to jump in and cause chaos. The people most affected were all the vendors and workers who lost money when the game moved out of Atlanta – everyday people who count on the event to boost their bottom lines and provide for their employees. Actions have consequences and yanking the game out of Atlanta was a bone-headed move.

Fast forward to now. Guess what? The MLB announced Thursday the hosts of the 2025 All-Star Game and it is the Atlanta Braves. The game will go back to Truist Park.

Commissioner Rob Manfred announced Thursday that the 2025 All-Star Game and the accompanying All-Star Week events have been awarded to the Braves, the third time Atlanta will host the Midsummer Classic.

“I commend Terry McGuirk, Derek Schiller, the entire Braves organization, and the Atlanta Sports Council for leading this effort,” Manfred said. “As a model of success on and off the field, the Braves deserve to host the All-Star Game. Truist Park and The Battery Atlanta will provide fans with a world-class experience in 2025. We look forward to working with the Braves and local leaders to deliver a memorable All-Star Week that brings people together and benefits the community in many ways.”

Oh. We are going back to earning the privilege of hosting the game now and not forcing political opinions on baseball fans, are we? Imagine that.

“We are thrilled that Major League Baseball has awarded the Atlanta Braves the 2025 All-Star Game,” said McGuirk, the Braves’ chairman. “Time and time again, Atlanta has proven to be a world-class destination for the most exciting entertainment and sporting events. I am excited that baseball fans will have the opportunity to experience Truist Park and The Battery Atlanta along with all this area has to offer. Over the coming months, we look forward to working alongside MLB to create memorable experiences that will showcase and support our community.”

Since Truist Park opened in 2017, the Braves have enjoyed a long run of regular-season and postseason success, providing multiple opportunities for fans to enjoy the facility and The Battery Atlanta, a sports and entertainment complex located next to the ballpark.

Elections have been held in Georgia since 2021. Voter turnout is higher than ever. Georgia voters are living their lives and doing their civic duty without voter suppression rearing its ugly head. Who could have predicted that?

The death of George Floyd ushered in an ugly time in politics. The tragic part is that none of the Summer of Love riots and discontent had to happen. The cause of Floyd’s death was drug overdose, not police brutality. That reality was not conveyed by media reports at the time and the trope that Floyd was killed by a racist white police officer fit the narrative of Democrats. Remember, race-baiting Stacey Abrams denied election results and declared herself the Governor of Georgia when she lost the election against Republican Brian Kemp.

Civil rights and voting advocacy groups, as well as the U.S. Department of Justice, filed lawsuits challenging the law shortly after it was signed by Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp, a Republican. They accused the Republican majority in the state legislature of trying to deny Black people and other voters of color equal access to the ballot box in violation of the U.S. Constitution and the Voting Rights Act.

They alleged that Republicans were trying to maintain a tenuous hold on the state after major Democratic wins in 2020. Former President Donald Trump narrowly lost Georgia to Democrat Joe Biden and two Republican U.S. senators were unseated by Democrats in runoff elections.

Governor Brian Kemp is pleased to be vindicated.

“Georgia’s voting laws haven’t changed, but it’s good to see the MLB’s misguided understanding of them has,” Kemp said in a statement Thursday. “We look forward to welcoming the All-Star Game to Georgia.”

It’s a win for regular baseball fans and the people in Georgia. None of this should have happened in the first place but this is Biden’s America and everything is political.
