The Squad's Ceasefire Resolution Lands With a Thud

A group of far-left progressives in the House is known as The Squad. The group is filled with anti-Semitics who have spoken out against Israel and Jews in the past.

More than a dozen members of this group called for a ceasefire on Monday as they presented a resolution in the House. The war begun by Hamas against Israel just 10 days ago is referred to as “armed violence.” There is no mention of American hostages being held in Gaza. This tells us everything.

The “Ceasefire Now Resolution,” — introduced by Reps. Cori Bush of Missouri, Rashida Tlaib of Michigan, Andre Carson of Indiana, Summer Lee of Pennsylvania and Delia Ramirez of Illinois — demands that the Biden administration “immediately call for and facilitate deescalation [sic] and a cease-fire to urgently end the current violence” and “promptly send and facilitate the entry of humanitarian assistance into Gaza.”

“I am grieving for every Palestinian, Israeli, and American life lost to this violence, and my heart breaks for all those who will be forever traumatized because of it,” Bush said in a statement.

“War and retaliatory violence doesn’t achieve accountability or justice; it only leads to more death and human suffering. We can’t bomb our way to peace, equality, and freedom.”

Those are words used in the initial responses by the Biden administration, including Secretary of State Antony Blinken, that caused so much immediate backlash that those responses were either deleted from social media or they were cleaned up to make clear America’s support of Israel. “de-escalation” and “ceasefire” have no place in conversations right now. The use of “armed conflict” is beyond the pale.

Cori Bush released statements from the individual representatives who signed on to the resolution. Those members of the House include Reps “Rashida Tlaib (MI-12), André Carson (IN-07), Summer Lee (PA-12), and Delia C. Ramirez (IL-03), alongside Representatives Jamaal Bowman (NY-16), Bonnie Watson Coleman (NJ-12), Jesús “Chuy” García (IL-04), Jonathan Jackson (IL-01), Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (NY-14), Ilhan Omar (MN-05), Ayanna Pressley (MA-07), and Nydia Velázquez (NY-07).” These are not known as America’s loudest cheerleaders.

The media press release from Cori Bush includes organizations that endorse the resolution. These include Black Lives Matter, Rainbow PUSH, and CAIR.

That’s a lot but it’s important to know where people stand, now more so than ever. United Church of Christ? Duly noted.

This resolution comes as Israel prepares for a ground war with Hamas. This is no time for a ceasefire. The ‘fire’ has only just begun. Hamas must be destroyed. The Squad will just have to cope with that. Murderers who behead babies in their cribs, murder children in their beds, rape women, and drag old people from their homes to murder them can’t be allowed to live. They certainly can’t be allowed to live next to the country they are on a mission to destroy and murder all its people – Israel. This is not retaliation. This is human survival.

As Senator John Fetterman once said, “America is not sending our best and brightest to Congress.”

It was noted by commenters that they are not calling for the release of the hostages.

Others were clear in which side of the war had their support.

A prominent Jew asked if Jewish lives matter.

Sides have to be chosen. There is no middle ground. This is a fight against sheer evil in the world. Most importantly, believe them when they tell you who they are.
