NY Governor Hochul begs Biden for migrant work permits

New York is a sanctuary state. New York City is a sanctuary city. The governor and the mayor are on record saying so over and over again. It was all fun and games while they were trashing Governor Abbott and others like then-Governor Doug Ducey of Arizona.

Abbott and Ducey worked together and sent busloads of illegal aliens to big cities in the Northeast. Washington, D.C., New York City, Philadelphia, then to Chicago, and Denver, and Los Angeles. All sanctuary cities, according to their leftist mayors. Okay. Surely these mayors will welcome a few illegal aliens from crowded facilities in South Texas or Arizona, right?

Nope. Now there isn’t room for illegal aliens in New York City. Governor Hochul (Democrat) sent a letter to Joe Biden Thursday. She demanded Biden take action on the flood of illegal aliens into New York. It is her first public appeal to the White House since the Biden border crisis began in New York. She preferred to work with the White House behind closed doors. She blames the administration for the unmanageable influx and asked him to take ownership.

“This crisis originated with the federal government, and it must be resolved through the federal government,” Hochul said Thursday afternoon at an Albany address, where she announced the demands were sent to the president in a letter.

“I’m confident if the federal government steps up and does its part, we will see this crisis through,” she added.

Are you kidding me? Does she really expect Biden to admit his failure to secure the southern border? He opened the border up on his first day in office – it is intentionally not secured. When asked he and DHS Secretary Mayorkas say the border is closed and secured. They lie. They aren’t going to take responsibility.

Hochul sounds like Mayor Adams. He has made dozens of pleas to the White House for help. Very little has come. Biden doesn’t think it is a crisis. He’s only made one trip to the border during his life. Not just his term in the White House, his life. Adams has asked for help since Spring 2022. He wants a state of emergency declared.

“New York City is the economic engine of this entire state and country,” Adams told CBS Mornings on Aug. 10. “If you decimate this city, you’re going to decimate the foundation of what’s happening. There’s a lot of blame to go around.”

No, there is not a lot of blame to go around. The blame lands squarely on Joe Biden. He is the president. He sets policy. He gives the orders to his cabinet. Mayorkas follows Biden’s orders.

Hochul’s letter outlined ways the federal government can ease the burden being shouldered by New York City. So far, it is estimated the price tag to provide services to illegal aliens will be $12B over the next three years.

As of Sunday, the city had 59,300 migrants in its care across 206 sites — including 15 mega-shelters run by the public hospitals corporation.

The four key demands, according to the letter:

Expedited work authorizations
“Significant” federal funding
Find, open and operate shelter sites on federal property
Reimburse the state for the nearly $22 million it shelled out for the National Guard response

Work permits. Cheap slave labor, perhaps, Governor Hochul? They are not entitled to jobs, certainly not at the expense of American citizens. She slammed the offer of $145M in federal funds to New York as “insufficient.”

Good luck with all that, Governor Hochul. Come to the Texas border sometime. See what a real border crisis looks like.
