Candidates flock to Moms for Liberty Summit in Philadelphia as SPLC labels them a hate group

Being labeled as a hate group by the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) was probably the best thing to happen to Moms for Liberty. Moms for Liberty Summit in Philadelphia is attracting big names to its event. 2024 candidates such as Donald Trump and Ron DeSantis are scheduled to speak during the event. Protesters are out at the summit venue so you know the group is over the target.

The target is the indoctrination of American school children in school. Protesters met the attendees arriving for a welcome reception at the Museum of the American Revolution on Thursday. More groups plan to protest today and throughout the weekend during the summit’s events. The unhinged left calls Moms for Liberty a hard right-wing group. That’s interesting because the mission of Moms for Liberty is to advocate for more parental rights in education. Are parental rights only a conservative desire? Do liberals just assume that the teachers in teacher unions will do their bidding and they don’t have to bother to be attentive to what their children are being taught in schools? Maybe so.

Arrests were made.

What is so wrong with Moms for Liberty’s agenda? They want to have a say when books are not age appropriate and are in school libraries and classrooms, as well as when teachers incorporate discussions of LGBTQ rights in classrooms of very young students. The key is age-appropriate. And, pushing an agenda to normalize a minority of the population based on their sexual preferences in schools is indoctrination. Those discussions should happen at home, not in schools.

One protester delivered common talking points from the left. “Their strategy is to instill bigoted beliefs about Black and trans people from a very young age,” said one protester. Really? Young children and even those in upper grades deserve better than to be indoctrinated in trans propaganda and CRT, being made to feel guilty for being white or believing in basic science.

Moms for Liberty hit the nail on the head with a statement in response to the protest.

“We are not discriminating against any group, any minority,” said Catalina Stubbe, the national director of Hispanic outreach for Moms for Liberty. “We do not co-parent with the government, that’s our message. We are going to do anything to defend transparency in education and the parental rights.”

Starting from the highest level of government, progressives think your children are their children. They are everyone’s children. Malarkey. Your children are your children, yours to raise with your values. They are not the property of the U.S. government or teacher unions. Joe Biden is particularly creepy when he says that children are “all our children.” It’s a play on Hillary Clinton’s motto that it takes a village to raise a child.

Today is the opening day and the speakers list is impressive to kick things off.

A thousand mothers are expected to be coming in from across the country for this annual four-day event, which organizers say doubled in size from last year; it is being held at the Marriot in Center City.

“We’re going to celebrate our American values. We’re going to empower, educate parents to defend their parental rights. We are defending innocence and integrity of our children,” said Stubbe.

On Friday morning, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis will speak at breakfast. Nikki Haley, the former governor of South Carolina and ambassador to the United Nations, is also scheduled to address attendees later in the morning. Then former President Donald Trump will speak in the afternoon.

A silver lining of the pandemic is that it exposed what was going on in classrooms when parents were tasked with helping their children with online schooling. The damage done to public education by at least a generation of leftists and teacher unions came to the forefront. Parents rose and said it has to stop. Education has to get back to the basics and less social experimentation. Children can’t read at grade level or do math. Civics has not been taught in years. History lessons are all about grievance politics. Parents are reinvigorated and active. That’s a threat to the left. So, the Moms of Liberty are labeled an extremist group for advocating on behalf of their children.

They say that all the presidential candidates will speak at the summit.

Philadelphia’s Democrat mayor released a statement. He doesn’t agree with the Moms but he will work to keep their safety a priority,  or something.

“With the Moms for Liberty summit beginning in Philadelphia this week, I want to be very clear that as a welcoming and inclusive City, we find this group’s beliefs and values problematic. We oppose this group’s policy goals, which include attempts to disregard history, ban books, and silence conversations about race, gender, and sexuality. We believe these policies are harmful to youth and I am especially troubled when these policies target classrooms, libraries, and any space where children deserve to feel safe, seen, and supported at all times.

“We strive in everything that we do to live up to our nickname as the City of Brotherly Love through respect and tolerance, and by honoring our city’s incredible diversity and the dignity and uniqueness of every individual.
