Watch: Mayorkas corrects reporter about Whipgate but she refuses to accept the truth

DHS Secretary Mayorkas actually did something right so I thought I’d acknowledge that rarity. During a press conference at the White House, The Grio’s April Ryan began to ask a question about Border Patrol agents and Mayorkas interrupted her with a correction. She pushed back on his correction and he held his ground.

Ryan is known for her agenda-heavy reporting. Her questions frequently have a racial tone to them. So when she began her question, it was not surprising that she asked about Africans illegally crossing the southern border. She noted it is not just Mexicans crossing the border but also Africans and she referenced the story of the Haitians who infamously crossed the Rio Grande River. She was talking about Whipgate – the phony story concocted by a liberal Democrat activist on social media about a horse unit of Border Patrol agents falsely accused of whipping the Haitians with their horse reins. Mayorkas corrected the false narrative she was pushing.

“The southern border is not just Mexicans, it’s Africans, as we’ve seen particularly with that issue of the Haitians being whipped with the reins on the horses. But what is there…” she began.

However, Mayorkas interrupted her as he said, “Well, let me just correct you right there. Because actually, the investigation concluded that the whipping did not occur.”

Ryan shot back, “I’m sorry, I saw it differently. They were whipped with something from the horse — reins from the horse. Maybe the video or the picture was fixed. But what I saw was totally different.”

Still, Mayorkas said, “I’m going to leave you as corrected.”

“I’m going to leave you as corrected.” Well, now. There’s some rare honesty coming from the mouth of a Biden administration cabinet secretary who I think should be impeached for his ineptness and continual lying to the American people and to Congress, too.

As is all too common with the media, Ryan puts her personal opinion above reality in order to promote her political agenda. She is demonizing Border Patrol agents at a time when it is impossible for them to do their jobs. Reporters were only too happy to jump on the bandwagon with this phony story and assume the Border Patrol agents were guilty of bad behavior. Joe Biden, Kamala Harris, and other prominent Democrats quickly assumed their guilt, too. At the time, Biden said, “To see people treated like they did … people being strapped –- it’s outrageous. I promise you, those people will pay.” No one was “strapped”, as the investigation proved. Mayorkas, to his credit at the time, at first stood up for the Border Patrol agents and said everyone should take a breath and let the investigation play out. But then he immediately caved when he heard Biden and Harris go against the agents on horseback. Mayorkas is a feckless wuss.

However, this time, with the investigation completed, he corrected the false narrative and held firm.

Ryan, unable to accept that her opinion is wrong, posted photos on social media that she thinks make her point.

The problem with Ryan’s photographic argument is that the photographer said that no such whipping took place. The photographer said that as soon as the phony accusations began but the Democrats with open borders agendas refused to accept it.

So, credit when credit is due. Mayorkas put Ryan in her place, though she pretended he was wrong and she’s is right. That’s how she rolls. It’s just another example why Americans don’t trust the media. They have their own agendas to push and facts don’t matter.

Don’t feel too great about a rare proper action by Mayorkas, though. Those agents who were suspended and placed on desk duty while the investigation was going on never received a public apology from Mayorkas or Biden or Harris. It’s no wonder morale is so low among Border Patrol agents.
