New York City Mayor Eric Adams pivoted to a standard default position for Democrats when he criticized Texas Governor Greg Abbott for bussing illegal aliens to sanctuary cities. Adams claimed Abbott is racist for choosing “black-run” cities to receive busloads of illegal aliens from Texas detention centers. What weak sauce.

Governor Abbott, a Republican, has been perfectly clear in why he is choosing the cities he is choosing. They are all sanctuary cities. The mayors of the cities have all declared their cities as such so Governor Abbott is taking them at their word. What better place to send illegal aliens than to a city where the mayor claims they will be welcomed?

“This weekend, we learned that Governor Abbott is once again deciding to play politics with people’s lives by resuming the busing of asylum seekers to New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Denver, and Washington, D.C.,” the black Democratic mayor wrote in a press release.

“Not only is this behavior morally bankrupt and devoid of any concern for the well-being of asylum seekers, but it is also impossible to ignore the fact that Abbott is now targeting five cities run by Black mayors.

“Put plainly, Abbott is using this crisis to hurt Black-run cities.”

To fact-check the mayor, Governor Abbott never stopped sending buses of illegal aliens to sanctuary cities as Adams claims. So, he isn’t ramping up his program again. It never ended. And, Abbott denies sending buses to Denver and Los Angeles. If Mayor Adams wants to lodge a vile complaint such as racism behind an executive decision, he should at least have his facts straight. As usual, Adams goes off half-cocked and puts the blame for his city’s problems on everyone but himself. Shame on him.

Adams conveniently didn’t mention El Paso Mayor Oscar Leeser in his little hissy fit. Mayor Leeser is a Democrat and Mexican-American. He has bussed illegal aliens from El Paso to New York City at more than twice the number that Governor Abbott has since spring 2022. Governor Abbott’s office said it has sent more than 5,200 illegal aliens to NYC, while Mayor Leeser has sent 10,713 illegal aliens to the city. Is Mayor Leeser racist, too?

Adams is making criticisms without knowing the facts. Shocker, I know.

The city said it does not know exactly where the vast majority of them are coming from, if Abbott’s and El Paso’s figures are correct. At least some were shipped here from Arizona.

Is Joe Biden racist? Funny how Adams only calls the Republican a racist. He accused the Biden administration of turning its back on NYC and creating “one of the largest humanitarian crises” in its history. He asks for federal dollars to pay for the city’s shortfall created by providing resources for illegal aliens. On Monday Adams said that his office will continue to “lead the nation in providing services to migrants.” Bold statement, Mr. Mayor, and completely false. What he is providing in NYC is a drop in the bucket compared to what Texas and Arizona are providing for those crossing into the country illegally. Why make such easily disproved statements?

Mayor Adams should buckle up. With Title 42 ending on May 11, the number of illegal crossings at the southern border is expected to explode. There are already thousands waiting on the Mexican side of the border for that day to come. Governor Abbott is planning to send more buses to Mayor Adams. Every state is a border state during the Biden border crisis. Texas should not have to bear the brunt of the crisis.
