There is a real need to bring back Civics in education. I’ve said that for years and every year, it becomes more apparent that the need is real. A good example of this is the fact that the progressive left doesn’t know how to argue about political philosophy or tolerate an opposing point of view. The left just wants to shut down dissent by making it illegal or throwing an opponent in jail.

First Amendment, anyone? What the left has conveniently forgotten is that the First Amendment covers, most importantly, those with whom you do not agree. Is someone saying something really offensive to you? It’s on you to handle it. Stand up and defend your position or walk away. Freedom of speech is about protecting the speech you don’t want to hear, not just that which is acceptable to you. It used to be that debate was deemed healthy. Now groupthink is the name of the game. It’s making people dumb.

I’ve seen two examples of this today on social media and I’m thinking we’re living in a really delicate time. The left is pushing hard to do away with traditional norms, especially when it comes to sex and gender. Two high-profile public figures bring that point home loud and clear. Instagram influencer Dylan Mulvaney thinks the act of misgendering by journalists of trans people should be illegal. Illegal. So, to take him seriously, I should be anticipating a knock at my front door any time now. Saying something should be illegal means that person should be arrested and be tossed in jail for whatever the offense is, in this case, we would need a speech police force. Literally. What if a journalist or reporter or blogger did it accidentally? Lock him or her up?

We need some kind of guidance. Not the AP Stylebook kind of guidance but just common sense guidance. It should be the prerogative of the writer to call a trans woman “he” if that person has not been surgically altered to conform outwardly to how he identifies. If a human has a penis, he’s a guy. Follow the science, right? I believe that a person’s gender is not something we can change wily-nily because our bodies are made up of chromosomes and hormones and all that sort of thing. A person can call themself a unicorn, but it doesn’t make it true.

Gender dysphoria is real. A very small percentage of people suffer from it. It’s a mental health problem. If saying that means I am breaking the law, so be it. But, this is still America and my speech breaks no laws. If a person is conflicted between the sex he or she was assigned at birth and the gender with which he or she identifies, that is gender dysphoria. I’m just following the science.

Dylan recently returned to social media after a 21-day absence. Dylan says it was due to taking a break and letting the people who are criticizing him just go off and get it out of their systems.

The second example I encountered today was from WNBA player Brittney Griner. She gave a rare press conference – the first since she returned from her detention in Russia. She was speaking about legislation in some states that prohibits some “medical care” for transgender minors (surgical mutilation) and those who seek to ban men from playing women’s sports. Griner said that banning men from competing against women should be a crime.

See what CBS did? The network edited out when she said it should be a crime. How convenient. This is why networks are not trusted. In this case, CBS is on board with normalizing transgender women playing in women’s sports so they edit a press conference to satisfy their agenda. Why does CBS hate women? Why is CBS participating in the war on women? Trans women playing in women’s sports cancels biological women. It’s science.

So, this is Biden’s America. Anything goes and if you object, perhaps you’ll just be arrested. Joe Biden is totally on board with trans women playing in women’s sports. He wants to adjust federal law to make it so. This is why an 80-year-old man suffering from the throes of dementia is so dangerous to America. He is beholden to the progressive left and all of their extreme agenda. He needs their votes for reelection.

Bring back Civics in school. These young women were not properly educated. Their generation was short-changed and didn’t learn about the Constitution and the Bill of Rights properly. The omission made them dumb.
