What about Tax Day? RNC responds to Kamala's visit to Reno on behalf of abortion advocacy

Kamala Harris went to Reno to praise lawmakers there for supporting abortion. She brought along actress Rosario Dawson. The event was held Tuesday at the University of Nevada, Reno. They participated in a moderated conversation on the Biden administration’s commitment to protecting abortion.

The day before Kamala’s visit, Nevada state senators voted to approve a resolution to enshrine abortion in the state constitution. Kamala praised Nevada’s female-majority Legislature. As usual, Kamala brought the word salad. This time it was all about a medicine cabinet and visual images.

“What you’re doing here is so important because it is not only about the protection of the rights of the people of this state, but it is an example of the fact that these things can be done and it’s the right thing to do,” Harris said to a full auditorium at the University of Nevada, Reno.

“Everybody here, I’ve asked you to have a visual image of what is in your medicine cabinet,” Harris said. “For you, for the people you love, it might be asthma medication. It might be medication to address heart disease, diabetes, cancer. All of that has been approved by the FDA. Think about the precedent that is now being set to say, based on a political agenda, that you could basically take that out of somebody’s medicine cabinet.”

That is pretty coherent for her. Democrats like to scare voters by using slippery slope arguments when it is a pet subject of theirs. There is no argument too hyperbolic for Democrats who are determined to support abortion advocacy no matter what. Abortion right up until the time of birth? Sure, why not? Now the argument is that a conservative-leaning judge is going to take your cancer medicine away. Is there any more intense political agenda than abortion?

Kamala is the Biden administration’s abortion czar. Too bad she doesn’t relish other responsibilities as she does that one. She made a five-day trip to Los Angeles to talk about abortion and clean energy. Five days. As her trip out west came to a close, she stopped off in Reno to talk about abortion some more. What she didn’t talk about, or even acknowledge, was the fact that Tuesday was Tax Day. The RNC chose to ignore her hyperbolic abortion speech and focused on what most Americans were thinking about yesterday – taxes.

“Seemingly every American but Kamala Harris, Joe Biden, and Democrats is keenly aware of one thing: it’s Tax Day. Harris’ silence on soaring costs and taxes is an insult to the students, families, and seniors who would be footing the bill for Democrats’ reckless $6.9 trillion tax-and-spending spree.”

Democrats always want to expand abortion ‘rights’ and that is what is happening in Nevada. Democrats control the state and there was no ban on abortion. Abortion is protected by a three-decade-old voter referendum. It can only be repealed by a vote of the people. Nonetheless, Democrats are introducing bills to expand abortion protections.

On Monday, lawmakers in the state Senate voted on party lines to approve Senate Joint Resolution 7, a resolution that would guarantee an individual’s right to an abortion and would block the state from prosecuting an individual for exercising their right to reproductive freedom. If passed during this legislative session and again during the session in 2025, it will be placed on the ballot in 2026.

Lawmakers are also considering Senate Bill 131, a bill that would codify former Democratic Gov. Steve Sisolak’s executive order protecting out of state patients seeking abortions from prosecution by other states where the procedure is illegal. The state legislature is also considering Assembly Bill 383, which would a establish the right to birth control.

Only one student protested Kamala’s event at the University of Nevada, Reno on Tuesday. Katriel Van Cleve said, “If it’s possible to reach even one person with the facts of human life, and to convince them to be pro-life, that’s what matters to me.”
