Jill Biden’s spokesperson was sent out to clean up her crazy talk about inviting both LSU and Iowa women’s basketball teams to the White House. LSU won the women’s NCAA championship on Sunday and by Monday Jill Biden was saying she enjoyed being at the game and watching the teams play. She should have left it at that but she didn’t. She went on to say that she was going to tell Joe Biden to invite the Iowa team, too. Everyone knows that isn’t something that is done – only the champs receive an invitation to the White House – and a kerfuffle erupted.

So, by Tuesday, Jill’s remarks were being walked back. Angel Reese tweeted a response to Jill’s suggestion that both teams receive an invitation. She tweeted “A JOKE” along with three rolling-on-floor-laughing emojis. No doubt the White House saw that and the walk back was forthcoming.

Press secretary to the first lady Vanessa Valdivia sought to clarify Biden’s comments on Tuesday, saying in a tweet that they “were intended to applaud the historic game and all women athletes. She looks forward to celebrating the LSU Tigers on their championship win at the White House.”

The 20-year-old Reese played a key role in the Tigers’ 102-85 victory over the Hawkeyes to win the first national title in program history on Sunday. She was named the women’s NCAA tournament’s Most Outstanding Player as a result of her standout performances.

Before Valdivia’s clarification, ESPN host Stephen A. Smith had echoed Reese’s sentiment, replying to her tweet saying: “I mean absolutely zero disrespect to the First Lady, but you are 1000% correct.

And, Reese left a comment on an Instagram post.

In a comment on an Instagram post from ‘The Shade Room’ which included Reese’s tweet, the recently crowned NCAA champion said: “WE NOT COMING. period.”

A Democrat congressman explained it all to Jill Biden. It is LSU’s first NCAA championship, women’s or men’s, and it’s a big freakin’ deal.

Rep. Troy Carter, a Louisiana Democrat, chimed in, agreeing with Reese.

“To The Most Honorable (President Biden) and (First Lady Biden),” Carter said. “LSU has won their first NCAA women’s Basketball Championship Title with a record-breaking score of 102-85.

“With no disrespect to the outstanding players of the Iowa women’s team … they did not win!

“LSU’s Women’s Basketball is the indisputable winner of the 2023 NCAA Championship and should enjoy this historic victory singularly.”

Let the women’s team at LSU have its day in the sun.

One more suggestion was interesting – it’s from one of the team members. Skip the White House with Joe and Jill Biden. Go party with Michelle Obama instead.

Reese’s teammate Alexis Morris asked if they could celebrate elsewhere, specifically at a former first lady’s house. “Michelle OBAMA can we (LSU NATIONAL CHAMPS) come celebrate our win at your house?” Reese replied to Morris’ tweet saying: “THAT’S THE TWEET.”

Jill really opened up a can of worms. It’s worse than the breakfast tacos remark she made in San Antonio. The NCAA championship game was played in Dallas. Jill just doesn’t fit in too well in Texas.

There were also the headlines made by two-star players. Iowa guard Caitlin Clark and LSU’s Reese were engaged in some smack talk. Clark is white and Reese is black. Claims of racism were made when Reese was criticized for her trash-talking while Clark was the first to make the same gestures as Reese, yet Clark was not criticized. Hmm.

Tuesday Clark spoke up to offer support to Reese. Media reports wanted to create a fight between the two women. That didn’t happen, though, and Clark said she has a lot of respect for Reese.

During an appearance on ESPN’s “Outside the Lines” on Tuesday, Clark said she has “nothing but respect” for Reese and that the LSU sophomore “should never be criticized for what she did. I competed, she competed.”

Clark called Reese — who was named the NCAA Tournament’s Most Outstanding Player — a “tremendous, tremendous player” during her TV appearance Tuesday. Clark added that the game was “super, super fun and said she thinks “that’s what’s going to bring more people to our game.”

It sounds like the young women have it all worked out. Maybe other people should just butt out.

Clark is the national player of the year. She said LSU “should enjoy that moment for them.” She said she would like to be invited to the White House.

“Maybe I can go to the White House on different terms, though,” she joked. “But that’s for LSU. That’s a pretty cool moment and they should enjoy every single second of being a champion.”

There was no need for Jill Biden’s move to make Iowa feel good despite their loss to LSU. She ended up stirring the pot and came out looking like a loser.
