Donald Trump finds himself in unprecedented territory with the indictment handed down by a grand jury in New York. A former president has never been indicted and charged with criminal offenses until now. Politics has taken priority over public safety in the offices of George Soros-sponsored D.A.s, and that includes Alvin Bragg.

What first jumps out, in this case, is that grand juries are supposed to be conducted in secret. It looks like the desire to find Trump worthy of prosecution overrode standard operating procedure. Someone leaked the news of the indictment yesterday and that is a crime in New York. Nothing will come of it, but it is worth noting.

Trump is a Florida resident. Talks are being held between Bragg’s office and Trump’s lawyers. It was reported that Bragg’s office wanted Trump to surrender today but his lawyers objected. It’s more complicated with Trump than an ordinary citizen because of his Secret Service security detail and accommodations have to be made for the former president. It’s not as simple as Trump hopping on his plane and showing up in Manhattan. The word is that Trump will surrender on Tuesday of next week.

Bragg’s office released a statement on Trump’s surrender.

We contacted Mr. Trump’s attorney to coordinate his surrender to the Manhattan DA’s Ofice or arraignment on a Supreme Court indictment, which remains under seal. Guidance will be provided when the arraignment date is selected.

The reaction from Governor DeSantis came swiftly. He described the indictment as the politicization of the legal system. DeSantis will not help with an extradition request.

DeSantis is a potential rival for the Republican nomination for president in 2024. Since Trump began declaring he will be indicted and arrested in New York, his poll numbers have gone up and DeSantis has seen his support soften. So, it was important for DeSantis to come out and say he will not assist Bragg in this completely political indictment.

DeSantis is a graduate of Harvard Law School. He knows what he can and cannot do. Legal experts were quick to say that DeSantis can resist a move to extradite Trump but he cannot stop it. He doesn’t play a role at all if Trump surrenders, which it looks like that will be how this plays out. Why would Trump give the Democrats the satisfaction of the circus it would cause if Trump doesn’t come to terms with Bragg’s office and surrender?

Article IV, Section 2, Clause 2 of the U.S. Constitution says that no state has the right to decline an extradition request from another state.

“A person charged in any state with treason, felony, or other crime, who shall flee from justice, and be found in another state, shall on demand of executive authority of the state from which he fled, be delivered up, to be removed to the state having jurisdiction of the crime,” the Constitution reads.

Federal law also outlines that states are required to comply with other states’ extradition requests.

Florida statute says that if the governor receives an extradition request from officials in another state and “decides that the demand should be complied with,” they sign an arrest warrant. Michael Bachner, a former prosecutor in Manhattan, said in an interview Thursday that “DeSantis would be very hard pressed legally to refuse” an extradition request for Trump, given that DeSantis is supposed to play only an administrative role.

There is no indication that Trump would resist surrendering himself and it was a timely response from DeSantis. That’s all it was. DeSantis is about to enter the GOP primary race and he delivered a political response. DeSantis was asked about the case before the indictment and his response angered Team Trump.

“Look, I don’t know what goes into paying hush money to a porn star to secure silence over some type of alleged affair — I just, I can’t speak to that,” DeSantis said when asked about a possible indictment at a news conference.

We don’t yet know what the indictment says about the charges against Trump. There is no doubt that this was a trumped-up (no pun intended) case against Trump from the get-go. It’s all politics. It is a little surprising that Bragg is so stupid, though. Going forward with an indictment is a boneheaded move in the long run. The problem for the Trump-deranged Democrats is that they don’t look at the long-term effects of their actions. It’s all about immediate satisfaction. Now we’ve got him. But, they never do, do they? Democrats thought they would impeach Trump before he was even inaugurated. They gave us Russia, Russia, Russia for three years before the truth about the Steele dossier came out. It was the work of Hillary’s campaign all along. Democrats thought they’d get Trump on a phone call to Ukraine and that didn’t happen. Hunter Biden was exposed as the corrupt player in Ukraine, and probably his father, Joe, too, who Hunter refers to as The Big Guy in the business dealings of Biden, Inc. Trump was twice impeached but not removed from office, failing to be convicted in the Senate both times. And, don’t forget that the January 6 committee hearings were all about denying Trump the opportunity to run again in 2024. That effort failed miserably, too. Do we think that this political stunt by Bragg’s hyper-politically motivated office will succeed? I don’t. Lie down with George Soros, and get up with the fleas of socialist authoritarians.

Bragg is proving he is not the sharpest tool in the shed. Short-term satisfaction from seeing Trump fingerprinted and the media publishing his mug shot everywhere around the world will be short-lived. What Bragg has done is bring on support for Trump from people who were not necessarily inclined to give him support in 2024. Bragg makes Trump a victim, just as Trump has said all along, that he is a victim of unfair prosecution by Democrats and their war on Republicans.

Now we wait for the next move, which should be Trump’s trip to Manhattan and his arraignment.
