Will they or won’t they? That is the question. It is being reported that King Charles extended an invitation to his coronation to Harry and Meghan via “email correspondence.” The guessing game may soon be over.

Harry and Meghan have gone out of their way to embarrass and criticize Harry’s family since they decided to move to America and live the good life in California. They cashed in on Harry’s title and access to the royal family. To say the relationship between Harry and his father and brother is strained is an understatement. There has been speculation as to whether or not Harry and Meghan would be invited to the coronation and if so, whether would they accept. The final straw seems to have been the publishing of Harry’s tell-all memoir, “Spare”, which resulted in Charles evicting Harry and Meghan from Frogmore Cottage. To add insult to injury, Charles gave disgraced pervert Prince Andrew Frogmore as his residence. Out with the ingrates, in with the slimy old prince. The office of Harry and Meghan confirmed on Saturday night that they received the correspondence but for now, they refuse to say if they will go.

If, in fact, the royal correspondence was their invitation, it was the right thing to do. The King should have both of his sons there, if not for the family then for the people living in the monarchy. Yes, Charles is a weenie but he shouldn’t go down in history as a king unable to bring his dysfunctional family together at his own coronation. If Harry and Meghan decide to continue their petty and spiteful temper tantrum, then that is on them.

But Harry suggested in an interview to promote his book that he would only attend if he received an apology for the way he says he and Meghan were treated by the family. Friends of the royals have scoffed at this suggestion, saying the royals firmly believe they have nothing to apologize for.

The friend reiterated this, saying: “It is clearly entirely up to them if they accept the invite. Plans are being made on the basis that they will.”

Asked where the Sussexes would stay if they did come, given that their home is being packed up and has to be surrendered immediately after the Coronation, and is thus unlikely to be fit for habitation, the friend said that secure arrangements for the couple would “of course” be made if they chose to come.

Prince William, the future king, feels betrayed by his brother.

Another source, an old friend of both William and Harry, who is no longer in contact with Harry, told The Daily Beast: “William won’t shed a tear if Harry doesn’t make it. He feels utterly betrayed by Harry. Relations have never been this bad, and he hates him for what he has done to the family in the books and interviews. He will support whatever decision his dad makes but it’s no secret he would prefer it if he wasn’t there, or, indeed, never stepped foot in England again.”

Asked if comments made by King Charles in his accession address in which he said he wished to express his love for Harry and Meghan “as they continue to build their lives overseas” could now be seen as an order to the couple to avoid the U.K., the friend said: “You’d think they would take the hint by now.”

While the entertainment for the Coronation Concert is still up in the air, other elements of the big event are moving forward. The chrism oil, the sacred oil that will be used to anoint King Charles III at his coronation on May 6, has been consecrated at a Christian holy site in Jerusalem. The oil was created using olives harvested from two groves on the Mount of Olives, a mountain ridge to the east of Jerusalem’s Old City. Olives from the Monastery of Mary Magdalene and the Monastery of the Ascension were pressed outside Bethlehem.

The Archbishop of Canterbury will perform the anointing service on coronation day. This is a duty that has been undertaken by past Archbishops of Canterbury since 1066.
