We’re doomed. White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said that Joe Biden is the “best communicator” in the White House during the daily press briefing Tuesday. I can only imagine the looks on the faces of the professional communicators in the administration when she said that.
The president, the vice president, and the press secretary herself frequently come under fire for their poor communication skills. Joe Biden mumbles, drifts off script, lies about everything including his life story, and vacillates between doing an angry old man yell and some creepy whispering. He is often dazed and confused as to where he is and what he is talking about. Joe Biden has been known as a gaffe machine for decades. Kamala Harris is the queen chef of word salads. She becomes fixated on a word or phrase and repeats it over and over again whether or not it makes sense to do so. She seasons the word salads with an unnerving cackle of laughter at odd times. Karine Jean-Pierre is simply out of her league. She is tethered to a thick notebook of talking points and policy explanations that she reads from when answering questions during the press briefings. She reads. She does not just talk to the press and deliver her answers. She also mispronounces words like “Canada” which she recently referred to as “Canadia.” When it comes to communication, the Biden White House is a mess.
After being questioned by a reporter about whether Biden is viewed by his team as “equally adept in all settings in terms of communications,” Jean-Pierre insisted that the president’s communication skills are the best in his administration.

One amusing part of the press briefing with KJP on Tuesday happened when James Rosen, a reporter for Newsmax asked, “to wit, is President Biden woke?” Smiles were apparent on the faces of reporters and laughs were stifled by some.

KJP launched into an inane response with an attack on Republicans. Because, of course, she did.
“So let me tell you what the president cares about and what’s important to this president,” Jean-Pierre said. “The president doesn’t concern himself about what republicans are trying to do in creating political stunts and making an issue out of the things they feel benefits them politically – not the American people not what matters to the American people, but what benefits them for their ability to move forward.”
The problem is that Joe Biden rarely speaks to the press. Sometimes he will answer questions from reporters as he walks to Marine One but he rarely does press conferences. He is the one who promised to have the most transparent administration – evah – and yet he rarely does more than read a statement from a teleprompter (or he tries to do that) and walk away while reporters shout questions at him. His handlers are nervous every time he opens his mouth. When he ad-libs an answer his staff usually issues an explanation or correction immediately to clean it up. He has a list of approved reporters from which he is allowed to ask questions. Joe Biden is a president on a very short leash. I’ve never seen anything quite like it. I wonder who is in charge now that Ron Klain isn’t running the show.
