Rick Scott ad: Joe Biden is a tax cheat and he should resign

Joe Biden used the State of the Union address to launch his re-election campaign. Biden likes to say he is all about unity but continually proves otherwise. He chose to slam Republicans with a big ole lie that the GOP wants to slash Medicare and Social Security. It was a charge he made by pointing to Senator Rick Scott’s “12-point plan to Rescue America.” Biden wasn’t quite bold enough to call out the plan by name or Scott but Floridians and people who keep up with politics knew of whom he spoke.

Scott’s plan – which zero Republicans signed on to in the Senate when he introduced it – calls for a periodic “review” of entitlement programs. Any mention of even reviewing entitlement programs sets everyone’s hair on fire. Like clockwork, Democrats accuse Republicans of wanting to take away benefits from senior citizens every presidential campaign cycle. Remember those ads that were put out by the Obama – Biden campaign against Romney and Ryan that showed Granny being thrown off a cliff in her wheelchair? Biden’s attack on Scott’s plan is the latest version.

The Republicans spoke up and pushed back against Biden’s lie during the State of the Union speech. He took it to mean that they are willing to roll over for whatever it is that he is proposing in his non-existent budget. He took it as a win. He crowed about bringing about some unity. Then on Wednesday he went to Wisconsin to win over union workers and told the lie again. The unity was very short-lived. He even held up a copy of Scott’s plan as proof.

In his defense, Rick Scott re-launched an ad he previously ran about the plan and included claims of Biden finding loopholes in tax law and improperly using them to avoid about half a million dollars in taxes. Biden is a hypocrite, as we all know, and Scott calls him a tax cheat. Then he calls for Biden to resign.

The usual Democrat operatives were quick to weigh in on the ad in the replies to that tweet. They loyally support the president, no matter what. They are perfect examples of the apathy from the powers that be in Washington that have allowed the corrupt Biden family to thrive all these years.

Biden is traveling to Florida today to reinforce his attack on Scott and the Republicans. What better state to try to scare senior citizens, right?

Joe Biden, as a first-term senator, introduced a bill that would sunset all federal programs, including Social Security and Medicare, every four years. I think Rick Scott’s plan suggests reviewing all federal programs every five years. Biden did this in 1975. His sunset provisions would have applied to the defense budget and entitlement programs.

“It requires every program to be looked at freshly at least once every four years. The examination is not just of the increased cost of the program, but of the worthiness of the entire program,” Biden, then 32, said of his fiscal crunch bill

In 1995, he said on the Senate floor that his 1975 efforts to sunset all federal programs never made it out of Congress.

“When I argued that we should freeze federal spending, I meant Social Security as well, I meant Medicare and Medicaid. I meant veterans benefits. I meant every single solitary thing in the government,” he said.

“And I not only tried it once, I tried it twice. I tried it the third time, and I tried it the fourth time,” Biden bragged.

Those are examples from his own hypocritical mouth.

So, Biden heads to Florida today to poke a finger in Rick Scott’s eye. Will he admit he, too, made such suggestions during his time in the Senate? Of course not. He hopes everyone has forgotten. The junior senator from Florida did the right thing in releasing an ad in his defense. It’s notable that Biden is going to campaign in Florida so early. It’s an indication that he’s nervous about potentially facing the current governor, Ron DeSantis, in 2024. He’s late to the game, though. DeSantis turned Florida into a deep red state. That bodes well for Republicans in 2024.
