Elon Musk changed his name on Twitter to Mr. Tweet. Then he tweeted that Twitter won’t let him change it back. Hmm. Doesn’t he own the joint?

Anyway, that is the Mr. Tweet reference in the headline. Musk made a surprise visit to Capitol Hill on Thursday. He visited both Speaker Kevin McCarthy and House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries.

Thursday was McCarthy’s birthday and though he was mum about what the two discussed during the visit, McCarthy did say Musk wished him a happy birthday. “He came to wish me happy birthday. We’ve been friends for years.” According to reports, the visit with Jeffries was “incidental.” Jeffries just happened to be in the Speaker’s office when Musk arrived.

At the time Musk arrived at McCarthy’s office, Jeffries happened to be receiving a law enforcement briefing with the speaker regarding preparations at the Capitol in the event of protests related to the death of Tyre Nichols after an encounter with Memphis police, CNN reported.

According to reports, Musk’s audience with Jeffries appears to have been incidental.

As Jeffries was leaving, he had a brief interaction with the Tesla, SpaceX, and Twitter CEOs, where the topic of Twitter came up, according to the news outlet.

The visit comes as the House Oversight Committee plans to hold a hearing in February on Twitter’s handling of the Hunter Biden laptop story. It’s well-known how Twitter censored that bombshell story when the news broke in the New York Post. Close to the election, Twitter put its thumb on the scale, and voters were kept in the dark about the eye-opening details of the corrupt Biden family business dealings. Twitter claimed the articles about the laptop violated a hacked materials policy, though there was no evidence of such a violation. That was just a convenient excuse used to suppress the story.

Chairman of the House Oversight Committee, Rep. James Comer (R-KY), asked Twitter officials to appear. They will be asked about their decision to suppress the information. The panel can vote to compel them to appear if they do not do so voluntarily.

All of that partisan censorship happened before Musk purchased the company. He released documents through the Twitter Files reports that show internal doubts about claiming the documents were hacked. Twitter officials knew the Delaware computer repairman had paperwork showing Hunter legally brought the laptop in for repair and then abandoned it. Twitter officials knew they were wrong to do what they did, yet they persisted to provide cover for Joe Biden in the 2020 presidential election.

Musk unbanned Trump on Twitter in November and word is that he is eager to return. Facebook and Instagram are also talking about unbanning Trump.

So, the bipartisan aspect of Musk’s visit was just a happy coincidence. He’s big on promoting bipartisanship in Congress. He encouraged voters to vote for the centrist candidates in the 2022 midterm elections and he disclosed he would be voting Republican. He was a staunch Democrat in the past.
