KJP puts DeSantis on blast for sending Florida National Guard to handle Cuban migrants

Last week Governor Ron DeSantis called up the Florida National Guard to help with the flood of migrants arriving by boat in the Florida Keys. White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre blasted DeSantis for working to secure his state.

“We are talking about people who are coming from countries, who are dealing with political strife,” White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said at Wednesday’s press briefing. “They’re trying to find asylum — and he’s treating them like pawns.”

She charged that DeSantis was “not dealing with the problem. He’s actually creating a problem.”

KJP is all criticism and no solution. She offers nothing but scorn for a governor trying to do the job the president refuses to do. The illegal migrants are coming from Cuba on makeshift boats by the hundreds. DeSantis deployed the state’s National Guard to deal with an “alarming influx of migrants landing in the Florida Keys,” The governor’s office reported that 300 migrants who were fleeing Cuba and other countries landed at Dry Tortugas National Park last week and about 45 made landfall at Key West.

When he deployed the Florida National Guard, DeSantis slammed the Biden administration for its lack of attention to duty.

“As the negative impacts of Biden’s lawless immigration policies continue unabated, the burden of the Biden administration’s failure falls on local law enforcement who lack the resources to deal with the crisis,” he said.

Just like in other places where illegal migrants are coming to the United States, resources of local communities are stretched beyond their limits in the Florida Keys, too. When the Cuban migrants land at Dry Tortugas National Park, 70 miles from Key West, provisions are scarce and the park only has a small staff of rangers. Normally, small groups of tourists and overnight campers visit the park but they must bring their own food and water.

The sudden increased influx of Cuban migrants, and others, comes at the time when Biden announced his new parole-style plan to curb illegal immigration. Biden’s new plan allows up to 30,000 migrants per month from Cuba, Nicaragua, Venezuela, and Haiti to be granted asylum in the U.S. if they apply from their home countries via a smartphone app and complete that process at home instead of making the journey to the border. A part of the plan includes an agreement with Mexico to accept 30,000 deportees from those countries sent back from the U.S. Needless to say, the new Biden plan is confusing and few details were given when he rolled it out.

Biden blames the Biden border crisis on Congress and its lack of action, specifically Republicans. So, the White House was happy to criticize DeSantis for his actions. Immigration will likely be an issue in the 2024 presidential election and it can’t be overlooked that DeSantis just may be the Republican running against Biden. Biden has a history of criticizing DeSantis for how he governs Florida. His successes in handling the pandemic and issues like supporting parental rights and keeping schools open regularly put the two men on opposite sides of an argument. It must have been a bitter pill to swallow for Team Biden on election night to see the huge red wave emerge in Florida, under the leadership of DeSantis.

We’ve seen Gov. DeSantis do political stunts,” Jean-Pierre said on Wednesday. She appeared to be referencing an episode in September when DeSantis transported migrants who had entered the United States without authorization to Martha’s Vineyard, a liberal enclave.

She also accused the Florida governor of “making a mockery” of Biden’s good-faith attempts to at least partly address the migration crisis.

DeSantis is suing the Biden administration for allegedly not doing enough to stop the flow of unauthorized migrants into the United States. Proceedings in the case began earlier this week.

Just in case people really fall for KJP’s nonsense, there is further proof of the problems being created by the flow of illegal migrants to the Florida Keys. The Coast Guard has asked for help from the governor.

Is that a political stunt, too, KJP?

Good faith attempts by Biden? Really? Biden began his term in office by throwing open the southern border. He told everyone they would be welcomed, just come. All of the previous administration’s successful policies and agreements were discarded on Biden’s very first day in office. He thinks he is being humane, the anti-Trump president. Instead, there is an unprecedented humanitarian crisis on the border. Biden refuses to admit his mistakes or to change course. He is tinkering around the edges with this parole plan and that parole plan which are doomed to failure, while Biden focuses on climate change and kowtowing to China.

What a disaster.

Every state is a border state now, thanks to Biden’s lack of attention when governors ask for help with the flow of illegal aliens into their states. DHS moves the illegal aliens around the country after being discharged by Border Patrol, often showing up in cities in the middle of the night without advanced notice to local officials. Remember that the next time KJP or Joe Biden accuse red state governors of political stunts when they bus migrants out of their state to a sanctuary city. Just enforcing the immigration laws on the books now would be a good place to start to ease the Biden border crisis. Don’t hold your breath, though. The only immigration reform the Democrats want is blanket amnesty for the millions of illegal aliens already in this country. Republicans aren’t going to fall for that agreement again, as they did during the Reagan administration and were burned by Democrats who didn’t hold up their end of the bargain. We remember. I hope.
