Guess which city is next on the list to receive a migrant bus from Texas?

According to officials in Philadelphia, their city is preparing for the arrival of a migrant bus. The bus is coming from Del Rio, Texas, and will transport 52 illegal migrants from the Rio Grande Valley to the City of Brotherly Love. Philadelphia will join the other sanctuary cities on Texas Governor Greg Abbott’s list.

Governor Abbott, fresh off a decisive victory in his re-election bid against perennial loser, Democrat Robert Francis “Beto” O’Rourke, said he would continue sending illegal migrants by bus to sanctuary cities. The mayors of these cities have all proudly boasted of being sanctuary cities – everyone is welcome – so, he is taking them at their word. The Biden border crisis has presented border states like Texas with burdens they are unable to handle on their own. In order to get the attention of the federal government, including Joe Biden and Kamala Harris, as well as Secretary Mayorkas, Abbott has sent migrant buses to Washington, D.C., New York City, and Chicago. Thousands of people in our country illegally have been transferred from Texas to other areas to help alleviate the humanitarian crisis on the border.

Local communities in border states do not have the resources to handle the thousands of illegal migrants who come into their towns and cities each and every week. It is the job of the federal government to secure the southern border and that’s not happening. Governor Abbott and Arizona Governor Doug Ducey are doing all they can to ease the burden on their taxpayers and are asking for volunteers to take the states up on their offer of free transportation elsewhere. They are given a free ride, along with food and water, to sanctuary cities. The migrants don’t all intend to remain in Texas or Arizona, they have other final destinations in mind when they illegally enter the country. It’s your turn, Philadelphia.

A spokesperson for Philadelphia Mayor Jim Kenney told Fox News Digital that “the situation is still fluid” and the exact timing of the potential bus trip is unclear.

“This information was relayed to us from a community partner organization as Texas officials have not coordinated with the City,” the spokesperson asid. “We do not have an exact location of where the bus will disembark, nor do we have any specific information about those on board, nor do we know if other buses are planned.”

Philadelphia officials have been preparing since the summer for the potential arrival of migrants as nearby cities started receiving buses.

Gosh, if they’ve been preparing since last summer, surely they are ready to handle 52 new residents, right? That is such a small number of new people coming into their city that it’s hardly worth noting. Compare that to the record 2.3 million migrants that were encountered by Border Patrol and other law enforcement at the southern border in fiscal year 2022. That is more than the population of Philadelphia.

Nonetheless, I fully expect for Mayor Jim Kenney to call a press conference and rail against Governor Abbott for sending a bus to his city. He will join the ranks of other Democrat hypocrites like Washington, D.C. Mayor Bowser, New York City Mayor Adams, and Chicago Mayor Lightfoot.

“They want to be in America,” Kenney said. “They want to do what most of our ancestors have done, and just make their life in America. And I see nothing wrong with it and we will welcome them with open arms and do everything we can to make their transition smooth.”

I don’t know about Kenney’s ancestors, but mine came here legally. Most Americans generously welcome legal immigrants. The United States has an annual quota of legal immigrants. Open borders Democrats conflate legal and illegal immigrants and it’s a distinction that has to be made.

The race for Arizona governor between Republican Kari Lake and Democrat Katie Hobbs has not been sorted out yet. Do we think that if the Democrat candidate wins the race she will be a solid partner in handling the Biden border crisis with Governor Abbott, as Governor Ducey is now? I have no doubt that the Republican candidate would be a true partner with Abbott.
