UPDATE: 10:27 p.m. CT: Here’s a little bit of snark from me after a very long day… Stacey Abrams actually conceded the race to Governor Kemp tonight. LOL! What a loser.

UPDATE: 10:00 p.m. CT: Fox News calls the Missouri Senate race for the Republican, Schmitt. With 55% of the vote in, he leads Busch Valentine 56% to 41.0%. Good news! Republicans hold that Senate seat.

UPDATE: 9:12 p.m. CT: Walker gains a little more over Warnock in Georgia Senate race. With 67% of the vote in, Walker is at 49.6% and Warnock is at 48.5%. We need for Walker to get past 50% so he can avoid a run-off race.

UPDATE :9:00 CT: Our colleagues at Townhall called the race for Kemp in Georgia. Good news!

UPDATE: 7:03 p.m. CT: The Georgia race is showing some signs of split ticket voting – voters going with Kemp and then with Warnock. With only 24% reporting, it’s way too early to call either race.

UPDATE: 6:20 p.m. CT: Harris County District Court Judge Dawn Rogers has signed an order keeping all Harris County voting sites open until 8 p.m. due to a lawsuit filed earlier this evening by Texas Organizing Project. Per the Houston Chronicle, polling sites will remain open in Harris County (Houston) later because multiple polling sites opened late this morning.

Tonight I’m looking at some big races. In Georgia, there is the gubernatorial race between incumbent Republican Governor Brian Kemp and Democrat challenger Stacey Abrams. It is likely that Kemp will defeat Abrams by 5 – 8 points and avoid a run-off. Georgia also has a very important Senate race between Democrat incumbent Senator Raphael Warnock and Republican challenger Herschel Walker. This is a race that can make a difference in which party has the majority in the U.S. Senate. Can Walker pull off a victory and, if so, can he avoid a run-off?

In Texas, it is clear that Governor Greg Abbott will handily win his re-election race and kick Robert Francis “Beto” O’Rourke to the curb. He is up 10 points over O’Rourke in most recent polls. However, in south Texas, there are three House races that maybe show further indication Republicans are making real headway into historically Democrat-controlled districts. Republican Rep. Mayra Flores won TX-34 in a Special Election. Can she win a full term? Two other Latina Republicans are running in neighboring districts. How will they fare?

In Missouri, there is an open seat for the Senate created by retiring GOP Senator Roy Blunt. Not much has been written about this race but Missouri is a swing state. In a red wave election cycle, I expect the Republican candidate, Eric Schmitt, to win.
