Ron DeSantis took the stage with Luke Bryan and liberal twits lost their minds

Country music star Luke Bryan did not hit a good note with liberal Twitter users during his Jacksonville, Florida show on Friday night. He brought Florida’s Gov. Ron DeSantis out on stage with him and the response was all kinds of ugly from the left. Angry liberals were quick to declare they were canceling the singer and American Idol judge.

Bryan was doing a concert to raise money for victims of Hurricane Ian. Currently on his “Raised Up Right Tour”, he invited Governor DeSantis on stage. The crowd responded loudly with what sounds like their approval as DeSantis walked on stage. DeSantis threw caps out to the crowd. Luke Bryan told the crowd, “We’re gonna have some fun and raise some money tonight for the great state of Florida.” All pretty standard stuff for an event meant to raise money with the support of the state’s governor, right?

Well, there is an election in just a few days and DeSantis is up for re-election. He is on track to win re-election and the haters are gonna hate. Democrats hoped to use a natural disaster, Hurricane Ian, as a weapon against DeSantis but that backfired. DeSantis has been praised by everyone for his leadership during the hurricane. First Lady Casey DeSantis led efforts to open a disaster fund for hurricane victims to use for immediate necessities as they wait for insurance claims and federal aid to kick in. Not only is DeSantis cruising to re-election, he is at the top of the list of potential Republican presidential candidates in 2024. The left is desperate to push back against the coming red wave on November 8 in any way they can. Social media provides the perfect venue for voicing dissent.

Opinions on the decision, and the manner in which Bryan brought out the governor, were quickly shared and dissected on Twitter, with one user writing, “Look I understand this is for a hurricane relief from the devastation that happened in Florida I can understand that. But…. when you do this 10 DAYS before the midterms it’s nothing but a political stunt. You could’ve done this after the midterms. Shame on you Luke Bryan.”

Governor DeSantis thanked Luke Bryan afterward on Twitter. “Thanks for letting me crash the party last night, @lukebryan!”

There it is. The country music star took a night on his concert tour to raise money for hurricane victims, the governor showed up and showed his support, and the crowd was thrilled, for the most part. Since the criticism came so swiftly and probably was not unexpected, Luke explained to his fans why he did what he did.

It’s a shame he felt he had to explain. He did a good thing and the critics are letting personal politics get in the way of an event that should be praised. Everything turns hyper-political so quickly and the hot takes on social media are predictable. Luke Bryan isn’t even known as an entertainer who gets involved in politics. He’s to be commended for returning to Florida for a concert and giving back after a recent natural disaster brought misery and destruction to the state.
