Tucker Carlson: Martha's Vineyard GoFundMe for illegal migrants won't actually go to them

It’s all fun and games for a sanctuary city, or island until illegal migrants actually show up. The hypocrisy of limousine liberals was brutally exposed by FNC’s Tucker Carlson during his opening monologue on Friday night. It was a full 21 minutes of making point after point about liberal hypocrisy. Specifically, he spoke about the illegal migrants who were flown to Martha’s Vineyard from Texas, courtesy of Florida Governor Ron DeSantis.

It may seem as though too much attention is being devoted to the transferring of illegal migrants to sanctuary cities, either by bus or plane, but it is necessary. There cannot be too much written about the realities of our open southern border. Joe Biden’s border crisis began before he was even sworn in. He promised to end deportations, work for unlimited amnesty for those here illegally, and welcome whoever crosses the border. People from the Northern Triangle and Central and South America got the message loud and clear. Come to the border, you’ll be allowed to stay. The towns and cities on and near the border are left to fend for themselves. Why is it expected for border communities in Texas and Arizona to just shut up and handle it but not expected of those places who proudly boast of being sanctuaries for illegal aliens?

Tucker Carlson pointed out that a GoFundMe was created to raise money, allegedly to help the migrants. Sounds nice, right? Well, in this case, the folks who donate money are not actually donating to the migrants, they are donating to a larger pot of money – a reserve that is being built up to assist situations like this in the future. Carlson described it as an endowment, like those created by universities. Wow.

They did do one thing, though. They set up a GoFundMe, which they called an urgent plea and they told us this was a way to help the migrants and we’re quoting from GoFundMe, “Martha’s Vineyard as a community of open-hearted individuals that view these migrants as people, not political pawns,” or trash, however, continuing the quote, “the island is a resort community with only 20,000 year round residents, and it already faces a shortage of affordable housing and off season jobs.”

Oh, it’s just not rich enough. They don’t have enough beds. It’s one of the richest places in the United States and it has more available beds than any other place probably in North America right now, but it’s just they can’t swing it, but you can do your part by donating to the fund and by donating the fund, they’ll help the migrants. Well, a lot of people believed it. The fund raised $40,000 but here’s the best part. You’re going to love this part. How much of that money is going to the migrants? Oh, none. None. An update on the fundraising page reveals that the funds will instead go toward, “building up a reserve to assist situations like this in the future, rather than directly helping this group of migrants in their situation.”

In other words, Martha’s Vineyard is building itself an endowment just like Harvard. Amazing! An endowment for Martha’s Vineyard! Not to help anyone, but because, why wouldn’t Martha’s Vineyard want an endowment? Well, yesterday, at the request of Martha’s Vineyard representatives, they broke it up. The governor of Massachusetts, the thoroughly loathsome Charlie Baker, called up the National Guard.

That money being raised right now won’t go to the 50 migrants who were flown to Martha’s Vineyard. It just sounds like the liberals who run the island are doing something. What a load of malarkey.

The GoFundMe that Carlson referenced was entitled: ‘Urgent plea to help Martha’s Vineyard migrants’.

The organizer, Sarah Goulet – a New York-based communications and PR executive – wrote on the page: ‘Officials and volunteers on the island have sprung into action to provide emergency services, shelter, food, and clothing.

‘Martha’s Vineyard is a community of open-hearted individuals that view these migrants as people, not political pawns.

‘However, the island is a resort community with only 20,000 year-round residents, and it already faces a shortage of affordable housing and off-season jobs.

‘Please join me in donating to the Martha’s Vineyard Community Foundation, which can quickly distribute funds to the neediest organizations.’

The Community Foundation describes itself as ‘a $16-million organization that works closely with those on the front lines caring for Islanders, their families and this special land and waters.’

The term “political pawns” is a major talking point. Democrats are spreading all kinds of disinformation about the illegal migrants, as is the White House. Nothing has exposed the rank hypocrisy of liberals like this move by DeSantis to fly 50 illegal migrants to ultra-wealthy, ultra liberal, and very White Martha’s Vineyard. The hysterical liberals filled with White guilt performed for television cameras, hugging and kissing the migrants, welcoming them with open arms. Then, just hours later, they began saying that the migrants will have to leave soon because the island cannot possibly take them. There are no resources, they said. There’s a housing shortage on the resort island, though it is the off-season now, they said.

The Governor of Massachusetts called out the National Guard. He called up 125 members of the National Guard to handle the illegal migrants. The migrants were bussed to Cape Cod (a less liberal place) and sent to Joint Base Cape Cod. Governor Charlie Baker, a Republican, sent out the military and then put the migrants in a military facility. That doesn’t sound very welcoming, does it? It sounds a little bit like the country from which they came – Venezuela.

It’s important that conservatives don’t let this story fade, especially while the Democrats are hysterical over buses of illegal migrants are arriving in sanctuary cities from Texas and Arizona. Is all of this political stunts? Yes. But, it’s effective. For almost two years, the media has ignored the Biden border crisis and liberals have sanctimoniously preached about diversity and inclusion at the expense of Texans and Arizonans. We are on track to exceed two million apprehensions this fiscal year. This is unsustainable and unacceptable. The media can no longer ignore what is happening after one of their favorite vacation island spots became a part of the story.

The story remaining in the news is important as the mid-term elections approach. Immigration issues and the open southern border is a hot issue with voters, especially with voters in red states. It is a humanitarian issue, a national security issue, and it is costing taxpayers millions of dollars. Joe Biden, Kamala Harris, and DHS Secretary Mayorkas don’t care. This is intentional.

As for Democrats who are spreading disinformation about the illegal migrants – they must be answered. The migrants all voluntarily agreed to go to a sanctuary city. They signed consent forms. They have been taken care of along the way. Food, water, clothing, medical assistance has all been provided for all illegal migrants who arrive on the U.S. side of the border. The residents of Martha’s Vineyard may want recognition for feeding and attending to the migrants but that is done every hour, every day along the border by local communities. Sorry, Martha’s Vineyard doesn’t get a special award for taking care of 50 illegal migrants for just a matter of hours before they bussed them off to a military facility.

Is it cruel and inhumane treatment when DHS flies or busses illegal migrants across the country to relieve the overcrowded border? That has been happening since Biden took office and usually in the dead of night.

Illegal migrants are treated well in this country.

Here is the video of Tucker Carlson’s monologue from Friday night. It’s worth a listen if you have the time.
