It’s a story that keeps writing itself. The Mayor of New York City, Eric Adams, has picked a fight with Texas Governor Greg Abbott over illegal migration. The mayor is outmatched but apparently, he has not realized that yet. Governor Abbott is happy to educate him.

This is 2022 and the Biden border crisis has raged on for almost two years. Texas takes the brunt of the humanitarian crisis along the southern border. Who do you think is better able to talk about illegal migration, Governor Abbott or Mayor Eric Adams? That’s a rhetorical question. The answer is obviously Governor Abbott. Adams is melting down because Governor Abbott is sending buses of illegal migrants to New York City. He first began to send the buses to Washington, D.C. as a way to make a point. If Joe Biden and DHS Secretary Mayorkas continue to ignore the Biden border crisis, the crisis will begin coming to them. After all, both mayors like to preen about their sanctuary cities, right? What better cities to send the illegal migrants than Washington or NYC? Walk the walk, Mayor Adams.

The number of migrants arriving from Texas and Arizona is minuscule compared to the hundreds of thousands flooding into border states each month. The first bus arrived in NYC last week and carried about 50. The second bus arrived with only fourteen people on board. Since then more buses have arrived but at a very slow pace. One bus arrived this morning. I watched on FNC as the people got off the bus and were met by people holding up $20 bills for them to take.

Jon Torres, who migrated from Colombia as a boy, took a four-hour bus ride from Maryland to New York to greet the new arrivals — with $200 in cash to give away.

“Because it’s the right thing to do,” Torres, 45, told The Post as to why he came. “It’s something that somebody would do for me if I’m in poverty, if I am starting out, someone would do that for me.”

Torres said he empathized with the migrants who arrived with few or no prospects for a job and no family or friends.

“You know, if I’m coming in a bus, if I’m scared, I don’t know where I am going, I don’t know what’s going on or nothing,” Torres said. “at least you know, if somebody gives me something for breakfast, at least I could start out that way, and then buy me a shirt, buy me clothes and then, I don’t know … figure it out from there.”

Good on him. However, simply handing out cash is not the solution to America’s broken immigration system. The system doesn’t work because the laws on the books are not carried out by the Biden administration. Governor Abbott is running out of options to get federal assistance, which requires getting the attention of the federal government, as is Governor Ducey in Arizona.

In a hissy fit, Adams said he’s called all his friends in Texas and told them to vote for Robert Francis “Beto” O’Rourke for governor. He also said he may send buses down to Texas filled with people who will go door to door for Beto’s campaign. If that happens (it won’t) I hope someone films it because it would be excellent entertainment.

Adams suggested he would bus New Yorkers down to Texas to campaign against Republican Gov. Greg Abbott for the “good of America” in response to Abbott’s move to bus illegal immigrants from Texas to The Big Apple.

“I already called all my friends in Texas and told them how to cast their votes,” Adams said during a news conference on Tuesday. “And I am deeply contemplating taking a busload of New Yorkers to go to Texas and do some good old-fashioned door knocking because we have to, for the good of America, we have to get him out of office.”

How many friends in Texas do you think Adams has? But I digress. Today, when asked for a response to Adams and his chest thumping, Greg Abbott channeled his inner Dirty Harry. “I kind of feel like Clint Eastwood. Go ahead, make my day,” Abbott responded on “The Faulkner Focus,” saying such a move would only help his campaign for re-election.

Abbott is right, this feud with Adams will only help his campaign. Those of us who live in Texas know what is happening. We hear dorks like Adam blather on about how “unAmerican” it is to send people out of Texas and how dare Abbott take him up on his pledge to welcome everyone to the city and we laugh at him. He’s all hat and no cattle.

Greg Abbott dropped the mic when he said what his campaign will do next. “We will explain to our fellow Texans that the Beto campaign is being aided by a bunch of New Yorkers in addition to George Soros, and that will do nothing but harm his campaign. Bring it.” The name of George Soros riles up the GOP base in Texas every time. Soros contributed $1 million to Beto’s campaign last month.

Abbott vows not to stop sending the buses. If you know anything about Greg Abbott, you know he enjoys a good political stunt. Sending the buses to the northeast is a stunt, to be sure, but it’s a stunt with a purpose. And, he’ll come out the better for it. If Mayor Adams had done his homework, he’d know that when Greg Abbott was Attorney General of Texas, his favorite thing to tell an audience was that everyday he woke up and sued Barack Obama’s administration.
