DHS may bus migrants away from border towns, Texas and Arizona bus them to D.C.

The Biden administration is planning to bus illegal migrants away from border towns and further into the United States. Some buses may not go very far at all. The city of San Angelo, Texas is about three hours from the southern border. It is being scouted by DHS as a location to bus the migrants, according to Rep. August Pfluger, a Republican congressman who represents San Angelo. Pfluger is seeking answers to questions on what DHS is planning. He sent a letter to DHS with his questions.

Pfluger says the residents of San Angelo didn’t sign up for this. The Biden administration refuses to secure the border and border towns are overwhelmed and overcrowded with migrants being allowed to remain in the United States.

“San Angelo is a welcoming community, but the locality has not volunteered for this mission, nor are they responsible for the burdens of the border crisis,” said Pfluger, who represents the area in Congress. “This situation is a direct result of [the Department of Homeland Security’s] shortsighted policies that encourage more illegal immigration and the agency’s failure to establish operational control of the southern border.”

Pfluger said he was alerted to the situation by San Angelo law enforcement, who were alarmed about their ability to absorb any amount of immigrants. San Angelo has a population of just over 100,000.

Pfluger asks about the plans DHS has to drop off migrants in San Angelo, as well as other Texas cities. He also wants to know if designated cities will receive advanced notice of incoming buses of migrants and if DHS will provide local officials with background checks on the migrants. He hasn’t received a response from DHS – shocking, I know – but he has been contacted by Customs and Border Protection (CBP). He was told that San Angelo is only being considered but no plans have been made yet. That implies that other cities are being considered but that information hasn’t been disclosed.

Busing and flying migrants who are being allowed to remain in the United States is nothing new for DHS. There have been many stories of buses heading all across the country and planes flying migrants into cities in the middle of the night to avoid publicity. Local officials frequently say they had no prior notification that it would happen. The southern border has been overwhelmed for the entire time Biden has been in the White House due to his policy of open borders and refusing to deport those here illegally. Moving illegal migrants around the country, away from the border, isn’t a real solution. It’s just moving the problems onto different communities.

“Yes, it will relieve some of the pressure off of the border communities, but then it’s going to create a problem in other communities,” said Robert Beau Nettleton, a county commissioner in Val Verde County, Texas, of the Biden administration’s reported relocation plan. The county has been identified by Texas officials as being one of three hot spots for border crossings.

“We’re not solving problems. We’re just moving people around to different locations to make it look like there’s not as many people on the border as we normally see,” the commissioner told The Post. “It’s a political ploy to say, ‘Look, these communities no longer have this problem because we solved it.’ You solved it for that community, but you didn’t solve the problem. You just moved the problem.”

An internal DHS document obtained by NBC News shows DHS’s plan to bus immigrants to Los Angeles, Albuquerque, Houston, Dallas, and other cities. San Angelo is the first small town without the resources to deal with immigrants that has been named as a possible location, critics say.

Governor Abbott (R-TX) and Governor Ducey (R-AZ) are busing illegal migrants to Washington, D.C. to make a point about the Biden border crisis. The idea is to let Joe Biden and lawmakers know that the situation in border states is unacceptable. Congress has to create laws to secure the border and reform the legal immigration process. Joe Biden has to enforce the laws already on the books. His dereliction of duty has created a monumental humanitarian crisis all along the southern border. It is spreading across the country. Every state is a border state now.

The governors have sent 79 buses so far. More than 2,000 illegal migrants have been sent to Washington, D.C. on a voluntary basis. Sixty-five of the 79 buses have come from Texas and fourteen from Arizona. The buses from Arizona have transported 523 migrants. Some claimed they would continue on to New York after arriving in D.C. Others said they will go to New Jersey. Some say they will travel to Florida. Of the illegal migrants from Arizona, 69% were from Colombia. Fifteen percent were Peruvians. There were eight Russians on a bus that left Arizona last Tuesday.

Busing illegal migrants from Arizona is a relatively new action that has come from continued frustration with the Biden administration. Like Governor Abbott in Texas, Governor Ducey is fed up with a lack of response from the federal government. Migrants are coming from around the world. Governor Abbott began busing the illegal migrants to D.C. at the beginning of April.

Florida Governor DeSantis says Texas should just bus them back across the border.

DeSantis is one of the Republican governors who has sent law enforcement officers to Texas to provide additional resources on the border. He has traveled to the border with Governor Abbott to see the problem firsthand. One problem with simply busing them back to Mexico is that Mexican officials don’t accept them back into their country. Biden is legally challenging the Remain in Mexico agreement put in place by the previous administration.

DeSantis says that the Biden border crisis will have political consequences for Democrats.

“All those communities now, traditionally, (have) been blue areas,” he remarked to Florida Politics. “They’re all going to go very dark red in the election because of the border and because (of) a lot of these other bad policies, the wokeness, and all this other stuff. People are absolutely responding, and nobody’s listening in DC.”

He’s right. The Rio Grande Valley is turning red after a hundred years of being a deep blue area in Texas. It’s no coincidence that the shift slowly began during the Trump years. It continues because Biden has created his own border crisis. The red wave coming in the November midterm elections is going to include parts of Texas that were previously written off by Republicans. Thanks, Joe.
