"Joey's" sister defends Hunter and POTUS against "the bad guys, the right wing"

No one is going to mistake Valerie Biden Owens as a unifier. The president’s sister has written a memoir and is on a book tour. Along the way she is taking shots at Republicans who are critical of both Biden and his son, Hunter. She even refers to Republicans as “the bad guys.”

First let’s acknowledge that Valerie, the younger sister of Joe Biden, would not have a book deal for her memoir, “Growing Up Biden: A Memoir” if her maiden name was one other than Biden. She is a member of Biden, Inc. and she’s cashing in while she can. She is described as “the president’s longtime political confidante, working as his campaign manager for all seven of his Senate campaigns and advising her brother during all three of his presidential campaigns.”

Valerie kicked off a book tour before the memoir was even released. She was interviewed for USA Today. In that interview she holds Hunter blameless for his past actions and what has been exposed on his infamous laptop. Instead of holding him accountable as a grown adult for his actions, she blames the controversies that have emerged on Republicans. Shocker, I know.

“No,” Owens told USA Today when asked if her nephew bears some responsibility for the controversies.

“Hunter walked through hell. He didn’t wake up and say, ‘Aunt Val, I think I’m going to be an addict. And so whatever happens, it’s my responsibility.'” She instead praised him for having “courage” and “strength” to fight his addictions to crack cocaine and alcohol.

She is conflating holding Hunter accountable for sketchy business deals in Ukraine and China with the troubles he’s had with addiction. Addicted or not at the time, Hunter Biden allegedly made business deals that resulted in emails where he referred to the Big Guy (Joe Biden) and his 10% share of the spoils from those deals. Joe Biden is president now and transparency about these past actions is important. As a member of Biden’s inner circle, it is fair game to ask Valerie about the stories emerging now that the press can no longer run cover for Hunter and the rest of Biden, Inc.

Besides gaining access due to the family name and his father’s political career, Hunter has a particularly damning text on his laptop that implicates his father’s complicity in his business deals, including, according to Hunter, that Joe asked for 50% of the money. Joe Biden has said all along that he never spoke with Hunter about his business dealings.

“I hope you all can do what I did and pay for everything for this entire family for 30 years,” Hunter Biden groused to daughter Naomi in January 2019. “It’s really hard. But don’t worry, unlike pop, I won’t make you give me half your salary.” Pop is Joe Biden.

So, now that Senators Grassley and Johnson are exposing the contents from Hunter’s laptop on the Senate floor, including some sketchy activity in China, Valerie was asked if she’s prepared for what other information may be coming out.

Owens dismissed the notion that the worst is yet to come for the Biden family, according to the report.

“I don’t know what could be worse than Beau’s dying of glioblastoma when he was 46 years old,” she said “I don’t know what could be worse than watching Hunter walk through hell. You never say the worst is over, but whatever comes, we can handle it as a family.”

She smacks Republicans for criticism of Biden’s presidency, including questioning his ability physically and mentally to do the job. “Trump and his right-wing followers have continued to do whatever they can to discredit the family and therefore to bring Joe down.” Valerie referred to Republicans as “the bad guys” when she spoke about Biden’s inability to communicate with an articulate message. If you had ‘blame it on his stutter’ on your Bingo card, claim your winnings now.

“My brother’s a stutterer, and he still stutters and tries to get things out,” she said. “And what did really make me mad and drive me crazy was when he would go to speak, and there would be a hesitancy, and the critique from the bad guys, the right wing, was that he’s not smart; he didn’t know what he was saying.”

I guess Valerie didn’t get the memo that Biden promised to unite the country and work with everyone. Biden hasn’t lived up to that promise and the longer he’s in office and the worse his polling numbers get, the more angry and partisan the president gets. Biden has two modes when he speaks in public now – he’s either speaking in an angry yell or he’s doing his creepy whisper. When Biden blamed those who voted against Justice Brown Jackson’s nomination to the Supreme Court for “verbal abuse” and “vile assertions”, well, it was so typical of Biden. Biden is one of several Democrat senators who ushered in the current climate we see during SCOTUS nomination hearings, going back to Robert Bork and Clarence Thomas, and now feigns disapproval of the behavior he sees.

“I knew the person I nominated will be put through a painful and difficult confirmation process. But I have to tell you, what Judge Jackson went through was way beyond that,” Biden said.

“There was verbal abuse, the anger, the constant interruptions, the most vile, baseless assertions, and accusations,” Biden said of the GOP attacks on Jackson, which included critics labeling her soft on child abusers and pro-terrorist.

Your rules, Joe. I’m sure Valerie will be the toast of the town and receive time on broadcast and cable networks as she promotes her memoir. Perhaps the DNC will buy up thousands of copies to plump up her bank account. Biden, Inc. is alive and well.
