Florida Governor Ron DeSantis signed H.R.1557 on Monday. The law, Florida’s Parental Rights in Education Bill, bans classroom instruction on sexual orientation or gender identity in kindergarten through third grade. That’s it. It’s as simple as that. It protects very young children from subject matters they are too young to understand and should not have teachers encroach upon parental prerogatives on how and when their children learn about such mature topics. Critics of the bill call it the “Don’t Say Gay” bill.

‘In Florida, we not only know that parents have a right to be involved, we insist that parents have a right to be involved,’ DeSantis said at a press conference at the Classical Preparatory School in Spring Hill, Florida.

‘We will make sure that parents can send their kids to school to get an education, not an indoctrination,’ DeSantis said before signing the bill.

Democrats and others who criticize the bill by calling it an anti-gay bill are deliberately misstating what the bill does. Do they wish to be seen as supportive of measures that groom young children into early sexualization and exploitation? Instead of standing up for the rights of parents to protect young children, the critics are cowed by fear of offending radicals in the LGBTQ movement.

Biden weighed in on the bill without specifically naming it, only calling out Florida by name.

The law goes into effect on July 1. Teachers who breach its regulations can be sued by parents.

The Walt Disney Corporation has been in the middle of this battle and is not coming off particularly well. CEO Bob Chapek’s flip flop over getting in involved in the opposition to the bill has divided employees. He should have stayed with his first inclination to stay out of the battle but instead, he caved to LGBTQ employees who demanded strenuous objection from Disney. Conservative employees have had enough and published an open letter about their colleagues creating an ‘increasingly uncomfortable’ work environment.

Disney doubled down and issued a statement criticizing Governor DeSantis for signing the bill.

Disney issued a statement condemning DeSantis’ signing of the bill. The statement read: ‘Florida’s HB 1557, also known as the ‘Don’t Say Gay’ bill, should never have passed and should never have been signed into law.’

‘Our goal as a company is for this law to be repealed by the legislature or struck down in the courts, and we remain committed to supporting the national and state organizations working to achieve that.

‘We are dedicated to standing up for the rights and safety of LGBTQ+ members of the Disney family, as well as the LGBTQ+ community in Florida and across the country,’ the statement continued.

It is a bone-headed financial decision for a corporation to weigh in on controversial political debates. Does Chapek think that all Disney visitors think the same way on social and cultural issues? In the case of Disney, the corporation was built on marketing it as the happiest place on earth, the ultimate destination for children of all ages. Disney is for children and families and G-rated entertainment. Chapek shouldn’t be surprised when Disney’s bottom line suffers from families who don’t want to get involved with political fights or support corporations that do.

The bill was included in the opening of the Oscars on Sunday night as the three hosts mocked it, further proving that progressives hate regular Americans and their families. The audience was happy to applaud their inane behavior.

The bill was mocked at the Oscars Sunday night, with co-hosts Wanda Sykes, Amy Schumer and Regina Hall repeating the word ‘gay’ as the crowd applauded.

‘If the people who held up degenerates like Harvey Weinstein as exemplars and as heroes and as all that, if those are the types of people that are opposing us on parents’ rights, I wear that like a badge of honor,’ DeSantis said.

“Fun Fact: NOBODY calling it the ‘don’t say gay bill’ has READ the bill,” tweeted Jimmy Failla, host of the Fox Across America radio show.

I guess Disney doesn’t have the power over Florida legislation it thought it had. At least not as long as DeSantis is governor. A Democrat running against DeSantis, a disgraced former Republican, posted this lame tweet in response to DeSantis signing the bill. (Check out the misspelled word.)

The thing you need to know about Will Smith and Chris Rock is that Ron DeSantis just signed awful, bigtoed legislation and we need to defeat him in November.
